Mrs. Scharfschwerdt, Sponsor, G. Coil, President, B. Bryan, Vice President, L. Burney, Secretary, D. Hough- ton, Treasurer. encourage the development of character and leadership in the students. The ideals of this club are Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. The members try to promote these qualities by upholding their own scholarship and helping others by 'Furnishing leadership in school activities, and by striving to set examples of good character and service. One annual activity of the National Honor Society is the publishing of the Student Directory. This year, the Society was again in charge of the Alumni Reunion Banquet, held for all alumni of the St. Lucie County Schools. These included grad- uates from the year 1911 to 1954. The banquet proved to be a huge success. Waitresses and waiters for the occasion were the newly elected members of the Society. The initiation cere- mony took place on February 4, in open assembly with parents of the initiates as especially invited guests. The speaker for the occasion was Warren Blackmon. Twenty-one new members signed the Constitution, received the red rose, emblem of membership, and walked under the keystone arch.
