...Rl I . : . JRLANDO E. JE- rf WATER 6 The- Dan McCarty Eagles turned giant.. killer when they iourneyed to Orlando to play AA Edgewater High School. Orlando picked this for their homecoming game. Edge- water, before the game, was rated tenth in the state. The Eagles, how- ever, were not dismayed, and in the opening second of the second quarter, Lug Tomlinson picked up an Edgewater fumble and went over for the touchdown. The try for the point was good. Edgewater scored in the final period, but due to a bad snap by the center, the try for the point was no good and Fort Pierce went on to win. FORT PlERCE 20-POMPANO 6 With Billy Childress scoring twice and Pat Richmond once, the Eagles won their second conference vic- tory. David Rountree and Mark Holloway played good games in the line and Ronnie Parker pitched several pretty passes. The picture shows all conference Bill Childress driving over for a touchdown. 'VT' F. it 8, .T FORT PIERCE 26-NEW SMYRNA 19 ln a game that was supposed to be an easy one for the Eagles, they met surprisingly tough opposition. Fort Pierce could not get moving until late in the game. With Ron- nie Parker throwing some pretty passes in the last quarter, the Eagles scored three times to win the game. The picture shows Buddy Warner as he plunges over in the final seconds of the game for the winning touchdown.

-erigv ,, or 'ff FORT PIERCE 20-SEACREST 7 The Eagles on the rebound after the Stuart game, and playing their first home game, defeated Seacrest 20-7. This almost turned into a swimming meet as the rain came down in torrents. All-conference Bill Childress and alternate-captain Danny Warnock alternated on the ball carrying with Bill scoring the three T'D's. The picture shows Chil- dress on his way to a touchdown. The Eagles really wanted this one and they got it. .JRT PIERCE. -on -' J , .ne Dan McCarty Higi. 'chool Eagles opened their season against Stuart. Traditionally, this is iusti: warm-up game, but this year, the Eagles received a severe shock. The Eagles went into this game with a lot of confidence and came out of it wondering what hit them. Stuart was really up for the game and the Eagles were happy to come out with a 0-O tie. FORT PIERCE 'l3-PAHOKEE 'I9 This was one of the most important games of the year. The Eagles played a good game, but Paha- kee's Rosenberg was just too good. Rosenberg scored all three of Paho- kee's touchdowns and played bril- liantly on defense. Pahokee went on to win the conference champion- ship.

FORT PIERCE 13-BELLE GLADE 7 The Eagles traveled to Belle Glade and met surprisingly tough opposi- tion. All teams seem to play their best games against Fort Pierce and Belle Glade was no exception. FORT PIERCE 37-LAKE WORTH 0 The Eagles game with Lake Worth was perhaps the best one they played all year. Every thing they did was right. Lake Worth had, up to this time, lost only one confer- ence game. Almost all the Eagle backs broke into the scoring with Pat Richmond making a spectacular run. The picture again shows Bill Childress driving over for the touch- down. FORT PIERCE 27-CLEWISTON 20 With Phenomenal Bill Childress leading the way, Dan McCarty High School won a stubborn vic- tory over Clewiston. The game, built up as a duel between Chil- dress and Richard Bethea of Clew- iston, proved to be very thrilling. Childress scored all 27 points for Fort Pierce and sparkled on de- fense. Other Fort Pierce boys who played brilliantly in their last ap- pearance on Jaycee Field were Tom Bruhn, Mark Holloway, Buck Bryan, Bob Pieper, Austin Mills, Lug Tomlinson, Dan Hurst, Bill Davis, Ed Altman, and Dan War- nock.
