U1- timately what develops from the self study will improve our service and effectiveness to our students and through them the community We live in. Thank you SACS team! SELF STUDY REVISITED We dreamed it, ate with it, ran alongside it, and heard among other comments . . . . . . Committee meeting again! Another late day! . . . Every school needs this experience! . . Lord! Help us! He was called in at the beginning and is right in there pitching. . . Husbands unite for a self study rebuttal. . . We'll make it, don't worry - we'll make it! . . Shall - Should - Could - vive la difference! . . I didn't know that! The things you learn . . . . . Self Study is a four letter word - love! And it tested each of us throughout the whole experience. PRAYER OF A PARTICIPANT IN A SELF STUDY FOR THE SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS Dear Lord: Please give me the memory of an elephant, the speed of a greyhound Cdog, not the bush, the ability to do nine things at once, three of them telephone calls, without becoming rattled while constantly checking the WaSte basket to find page 64 of Standard VI . . . Give me patience to control myself when in the rush of final preparation of copy for the printe rs, an interested applicant appears without an ap- pointment and says she has come all the way from Chattanooga. And when We have heard for the hundredth time that, It can't be done, help us get it done. Amen. P. S. He did! COMING AND GOING - HOW ELSE CAN A SELF STUDY BY PUT TO- GETHER? MV ai I 5 4 A We. Amy Ward Carol Ross And Other People joe- Ward Jim Baird Crystal Rive rs in Our Lives . . Dorothy Chew THE PRAYER A black man stands alone to sing, Before the crowd assembled there. His voice rang clear throughout the room, The song he choose, The Lord's Prayer. It's strange how thoughts can rush through time, Years and centuries, just melt away. My mind could see a hillside bare, Where a lone disciple stopped to pray. He stood alone, alone with God, There in the hills through which He walked. A simple prayer . . . So great in Faith, The well known prayer that Jesus taught. Our Father Who are in Heaven, Hallowed By Thy name, Thy kingdom come, He longed to see the church's words, Spread over the earth, Thy will be done. I thought we who have seen the day, When Christ is preached throughout our land. We do not yield ourselves . . . as He, To carry out God's plan for man. Give us this day, Our daily bread. In shame, I though, We're blind indeed. He prays for bread just for this day, In our abundance, we feel no need. How often do we ask for food? When we Give Thanks what do we say? We . . . who have never felt such need, Have not known hunger, How do we pray? Lead us not in the tempter's way, Deliver us . . . from evil . . . Then I thought, Man really wants to be, Free from wrong, from self, from sin. Deep within the human heart, There is a spark that bids us be. More like our Maker: In times of old Or times like now, Lord set us freeg Thine is the kingdom, The power, and The Glory, fLord these words were felt! I hoped that someone in that room Would feel the awe, I felt myself.J For ever and ever, unmeasured time, From the beginning . . . until the end, Man cannot change alone the wrong, The wrong to right, to undo sin. The power and glory is God's alone, The singer quietly, bowed his head, QSurely in Heaven Angels sangj in a humble voice AMEN he said. fThe above was inspired by Andre Ball who sang the Lord's Prayer at graduationj Ethel Watson, L. P. N. Mother of Billie Creed Graduate 1975 Our School Our Creed asf It is better to light one candle . . . . . than to curse the darkness.
