Excitement prevailed as the students of Dalton High School entered into a new year and a new school. Amid the uncertainity and apprehension, there was an unmis- takable sense of pride and humility as we looked upon these untread corridors. Everything had a new name. We were instructed to find our classes by going up the Ramp or down the Ramp and locating color coded areas. Though the ramp provided access to all parts of the building, we did discover stairwells which helped us move from one area to another of this five and one-third acre building. We ate lunch and attended dances and banquets in a spacious area called the Commons. We enjoyed choosing from four lunch menues and having a balcony in the Commons where a band could play. The School Store, located at one entrance to the Commons, became a favorite among the students who went by to purchase an after-lunch sweet or perhaps a composition book need- ed before his next class. In another area we discovered we no longer had an auditorium, but a five hundred seat Theatre with a beau- tiful red decor. To look up a book, read a magazine, or just relax for a while we no longer went to the library, but to the Media Center which featured a mezzanine where fiction books were located. At first we were apprehensive as we searched for the library, the cafeter- ia, and our classes in the color coded areas. Even the seniors were uncertain where to go or how to get there. However, it did not take long for us to adapt to the new names and find our way from class to class. 9
