The excitement of beginning a brand new school year fills the halls. As we walk down famil- iar corridors, we greet classmates and renew old friendships which have lagged during the sum- mer. Most of us are returning to DHS for another year, but for some, high school is a new exper- ience. One can recognize these newcomers by the bewildered facial expressions which contrast with the nonchalant smiles of the upperclassmen. Seniors, enjoying their importance, take on the responsibilities of leadership. As the year gets underway we are caught up in the enthusiasm which characterizes every year at DHS. We anticipate a year full of club meeting, ballgames, plays and dances. Our schedules become more hectic each day but, of course, we still manageto study. Each morning we engage in the never-ending battle for parking places and race the tardy tone to homeroom. We tackle our studies, but eagerly await our next opportunity to socialize. However, lunch is the main event in our race against time, and those who go off campus frequen- tly set new records in the field of speed-eating. The day comes to a close for some with the sounding of the 3:28 tone, but it sends many to additional meetings and practices. To us this endless activity is DHS . . . and we are the proud, happy and busy people of DHS. 9
