time is a part of us, not only years, as we .speak of them, but our lives, our thoughts. All our yesterdays are summarized in X our now, and all the tomorrows are ours to shape. No year is complete. Even the % seasons into which we divide % the years overlap the arbitrary % markers. Winter ends one ■ year and begins the next, 1 and the growth of each 1 spring is from the root and I seed of the past. It is the I continuity that matters, the inevitability of tomorrow, I which gives meaning to the I numbers themselves. Ten or f a hundred has no meaning ■without the continuity of num- M bers behind it, other numbers M beyond. Tomorrow implies a now and a yesterday. And K year's end is neither an end nor M a beginning but a going on, with M all the wisdom that experience can M instill in us. Hal Borland
