COMMUNITY CHEST STUDENT COUNCIL Mr. Filizzi: Advisor Officers: Standing (L to R) Roseanne Givler, (Sec.) Felicia Feree (Treas.) Sitting (L to R) Ron Herman (Pres.) John Dol- metsch (V. Pres.) Eric Kern (Att. Off.) This year’s Student Council consists of 69 members who have been striving to expand and improve the activities and services that are tra- ditionally sponsored. The first event of the year, the Homecoming Dance will be remembered for its unique decorations and theme. As the year progressed the Donut Program was expanded to include more variety. Student Council also sells refreshments at all home basketball games and wrestling matches. This years activities consisted of a Carnation Day, Computer Dance, and a Cinderella Dance. These were all activities that had been tried in previous years. In addition to these activities, many new and different ones were introduced. A Halloween Dance and Spook House were attempted. The “First Annual Wildcat Run” was a joint effort that was sponsored by both Council and Varsity Club. Perhaps the most interesting new event of the year was the Bluegrass Dance, which fea- tured “John Farmer’s Poverty Band”. It might seem that all council does is hold dances etc .. ..actually there is much that coun- cil works on that is unrelated to this area. During the year the Constitution was again brought to a vote on its revision, the Dress Code was revised to change with the times, the library’s hours were extended, and the “Council Chronicals”, a a monthly newsletter, was started. Our council also won the position of District E Representa- tive, which involves representing some 170 schools in this area. We also hosted a Student Council Workshop that was attended by the York County schools. Student council’s main objective will always be the betterment of the school by working for the goals of the entire student body. 12

LINE DRIVE BOY’S BASEBALL Dissappointment was written all over Coach Shoffs face as the 1979 baseball season came to an ena. He had felt that the team had winning potential with six lettermen returning to the team. With a 3-4 record, the team fell short of their goals. In five of the games lost they had had a lead. The six returning lettermen: are: Scott Riddle, who made all-county; Craig Hess, Scott Lookingbill, John Kemper, Greg Plowman, and junior Rich Green, who was the leading hitter. Senior Greg Plowman led in the RBI’s and in homeruns. The JV team was undefeated this season, with Coach Gerber at the reins. He feels that the future of the program looks bright. Varsity: Front- E.
