DALLASTOWN AREA HIGH SCHOOL Foreword Tomorrow the world with its tribulations and opportunities receives us -- the seniorsof Dallastown Area High School. As graduating seniors, we now feel that we know what we arc, but we do not know what we may some day become. Hesitantly yet enthusiastically, we anticipate assuming our roles in a world of explosive changes, competition, and invention. Our world is a complex and progressive one; it is not the horse -and- buggy world of our grandparents. Jets fly passengers across the United States in a matter of hours; telephones allow us to communicate with any country in the world; highways and automobiles transport us at amazingly fast rates of speed; and automation frees us from the tedious jobs that occupied so much of our ancestors' time. But with this progress we experience the same type of complexity that recently confronted New York when its electrical system failed and the city remained indarkness for several hours. This massive power failure once again reminded us that machinery can never completely replace man. With this in mind, we have prepared ourselves to become teachers and ministers, parents ajxl doctors, clerks and scientists, mechanics and engineers. Our friends and ourpast activities, our teachers and our high school studies have recorded priceless memories on our minds. With the bursting of a flashbulb and the clattering of a press, the SPKCTATOR Staff has captured some of these joys so that we may cherish and recall our past experiences. As we occasionally review this book, may it inspire us to make the world of tomorrow an even greater realm of existence. 2
