Dallas- town's School Board, headed by Thomas Smith, controls the educational system and supervises improvements in the school system. Members of the Board are elected to their positions by the community in which they serve. Directly responsible to this governing body are individual men who supervise affairs within the school system. The Supervising Principal, S. Ray Grimm, Jr., has charge of planning, organizing, and directing the joint schools' edu- cational program. Mr. Grimm is responsible for interviewing and hiring new teachers and observing and evaluating teacher performance. To assist him, Ralph N. McSherry serves as Administrative Assistant and Carl Glatfelter serves as Business Manager. Dallastown Area High School is more directly supervised by High School Principal Clair A. Trout, who directs edu- cation and Faculty. His authority encompasses both the se- nior and junior high, but he in turn gets assistance from As- sistant Principal Clay E. Givler in the senior high and Robert H. Hays in the junior high. Both of these men are in charge of student scheduling, school discipline, anti student activi- ties. Curriculum Coordinator Joseph Rojahn works with Mr. Trout to set up standards for courses of study, which serve as guidelines for teachers. He constantly revises the curriculum to provide students with recent information. Working together, these men and women serve the com- munity, Faculty, and students well. Because of their efforts, Dallastown Area High School provides abundant opportunities for the many individuals whom these Administrators govern. 10
