D.A.H.S. has been your symbol for Dallasfown Area High School. You are now about to leave that in- stitution. As graduates, may you possess, among your many qualities, these attributes identified by the same four letters,- D — Duty — Never to tire, never to grow cold; to be patient, sympathetic, tender,- to look for the budding flower and the opening heart; to hope always; like God, to love always, — this is duty. — H.F. Amiel A — Ambition — Every man who can be a first-rate something — as every man can be who is a man at all — has no right to be a fifth rate something,- for a fifth-rate something is no bettr than a first-rate nothing. — J.G. Holland H — Happiness — That man is happiest who likes to do what he has to do. — Anon. S — Success — in proportion to your efforts in a worthy endeavor — . The talent of success is nothing more than doing whatever you can do well; and doing well what- ever you do, without a thought of fame. — Longfellow HARRY W. SHENK Supervising Principal Congratulations to the class of 1962! You have reached a milestone in the educational journey of life. One looks back at years past and then looks for- ward to the years ahead. An obligation for you at this time is best illustrated by the story of a young farm boy who headed toward the city on a hot summer's day. Halfway there he stopped to rest somewhat undecided if he should con- tinue or return. Just then a driver came by who offered him a ride to the city. Upon arriving at the city, the boy thanked the driver sincerely. The advice of the driver was that even though their particular path may never meet, the boy could show his gratitude by passing it on to someone else. During your school days many people did many things for you. Now it is your turn to pass on those good things to others. Life has many more of the good things than the bad if only we take time to count our blessings and pass them on. Our best wishes accompany you, and, may God's speed attend you as you move toward other milestones. CLAIR A. TROUT Principal 6
