BEACON LITERARY STAFF This pas! school year has seen our worthy Beacon gain another honor. Our paper has won first place in the 1960-61 PSPA school contest. Activities of the school are re- corded on four packed pages. Six times a year the editors and assistants, reporters, and advisor rush to meet their deadlines. Their rush work is of high quality. This year as Miss Weitcomb became Mrs. A.G. Hannel 3RD, and left our faculty, Mr. Burdette, Miss Weitcomb's replacement, became advisor. The Beacon for us is a means of expressing our feelings. Across the pages are deep thoughts expressed in poems and laughable events printed in a few lines of actual dialogues usually conducted- between a teacher and sleepy student. Many stu- dents submit questions and suggestions to the school through the Beacon. Never forget the power of the printed word. The Beacon has done a lot to improve our school. Buy the Beacon. Never forget its potential. 26

Many students, parents, and mem- bers of the faculty subscribed to the patron list. Sub- scribers of the Spectator have shown fine school spirit in responding to our subscription drive. Robert Stremmel was business manager of the Spectator for the 1961-62 school year. Mr. Winemiller was the advisor. The job of the staff was to sell adver- tisements and to compile a list of patrons. Friendly businessmen of the area are always willing to support the Spectator by their purchase of advertising space. We also thank the many patrons for their dona- tions — for many this is a chance to see their name in print. 25
