Congratulations to you for having successfully com- pleted your public education! You have now reached a milestone in your young life. We trust that your life will have many more simi- lar milestones, for you see you are a part of the world now engaged in a cold war which in reality is a war for the minds of men. At no time in history has there been more need for clear thinking than today. Ideologies beset us on all sides and with all tech- niques of modern propaganda, often appear sensible. Out of this mass of ideas must come your inner beliefs and ultimate decision that man is God's greatest creation and the worth of an individual is more than the whole world. In this thinking is the need of today and the hope of tomorrow. We can feel confident that the training you have received here at Dallastown Area High School will help you to reach this goal. May you live that your school will be able to say with pride, That's one of our alumni, we're happy to have been a part of his past. Mr. Clair Trout, Principal B.S. — Elizabeth College M.E.D. — Western Maryland 9

Dr. Horry Shcnk, Superv ng Principal B.A. — Dickinson College M.A. — Gettysburg College D.Ed. — Pennsylvania State University You have begun your last year in the public schools in 1960 — the beginning of a new decade. When the new decade arrives, you will have seen many changes in your lives. Collectively, you will have experienced higher education, technical training, apprenticeships, adjustments to new positions, adult tasks, voting privi- leges, marriage, children, family responsibilities, joys, sorrows, successes, failures, aspirations, disappoint- ments, friendships, unfriendly relations, gratitude, regrets. As we look at you individually, we cannot predict to whom the pleasant and positive experiences will fall; nor can we predict what additional perplexing problems you may meet. However, we can point out to you certain characteristics which you should strive to develop as supplements to your academic learning — truth, belief in a higher Being, integrity, morality, dependability, honesty, work habits, a spirit of friend- liness. These traits will improve your lot in life. Upon graduation, promise to develop these traits, and, having promised, don't fail to do what you have promised. Mr. Marstcllar, Elementary Supervisee Mr. Glatfelter, Business Manager; Mr. McSherry Administrative Assistant. SECRETARIES: (STANDING) Mrs. Geesey, Mrs. Reidel, (SEATED) Mrs. Shearer. 8
