For the Seniors, the days of bygone years can truly be called The Days of Wine and Roses. The Juniors, With a Little Bit of Luck, will rise and take their places as honored Seniors. For the Sophomores, the advent of the coming year poses a difficult question: ' Where Do We Go to from Here? The lonely Freshmen are just begin¬ ning to embark upon the voyage of acquiring a high school education. Of them it can truly be said that they are Reaching for a Star. But for the Eighth Grader who anxiously awaits the coming year, this year holds pros¬ pects of fun, joy, and merry-making (the poor misguided soul). He is just entering the glorious (?) period of high school life. He must Begin the Beguine. The Annual Staff proudly presents to you, Seniors, Juniors, Sopho¬ mores, Freshmen, and Eighth Graders, the 1967 ORION. May it hold as many cherished memories for YOU as it holds for us. Danny Lineberger Editor-in-Chief 3 w s a c - t v CHARLOTTE. N. C. Jimmy Kilgo December 2, 1966 Miss Lynda M. Brantley Dallas Public Schools Dallas, North Carolina Dear Miss Brantley: Your decision to request that I make your choice for Miss Orion 1967 is certainly appreciated. From the group of photographs you furnished me, I have selected Miss Ruth Shelton as Miss Orion. To make such a choice was indeed difficult, but at the same time, a real honor. My hope is that you and the members of the student body will be happy with Miss Shelton as your representative. May I offer my best wishes to you, the annual staff, and especially to the student body. If ever 1 may be of service to you again, please do not hesitate to call upon me. Sincerely yours, Jimmy Kilgo JKrkb Judy Weaver Sherry Best Linda Click 6 Jann Grahl Cynthia Cherry Contestants Susie Carter Cindy Summey 7 BARBARA EDWARDS FALLS Tell me not in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! -- For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow 8 We, the staff of the 1967 Orion, proudly dedicate this annual to a friend as well as a teacher. She has assisted us in our high school years through encouragement and guidance. With her wisdom, she has led us through the trying moments which have confronted us since we entered high school. We have shared our happiness as well as our problems with her. To you, Lynda Brantley, we present this annual with sincere appreci¬ ation. 9 Sherry Best Cynthia Cherry Judy Weaver Vicki Hinson Sue Sandifer Nancy Watts Cindy Summey Myra Ledford Ruth Shelton Danny Lineberger Editor-in-Chief Beth Boyd Ray Costner Linda Clic k I don ' t like the way you breathe.
