CECICAIIOI1 For twenty years of work devoted to bettering education in Dallas as principal of Dallas high school and Superintendent of City Schoolsg for his quiet, guiding hand and understanding patienceg for his unending efforts, victories and defeats whichhave meant so much to us ---- we, the Dragon staff and senior class of 1954 proudly dedicate our 1954 Dragon to- - MR, SIDNEY WHITWORTH Mr. Whitworth was born in Renton, Washington, graduated from Broadway high school ir1 Seattle, and holds aB.S. degree from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. He later earned his B.A. and Master's degree at the University of Washington and has received additional training at the University of Oregon and Oregon State College summer sessions. When World War 1 broke out, Mr. Whitworth enlisted in the 346th Field Artillery, became a sergeant, and served six months in France. After returning, hetaught invarious Washington high schools, then turned from his chosen profession to work three years as credit manager for a Seattle hardware company. In 1923, Mr. Whitworth became principal at Dallas high school and in 1942 became Superintendent of City Schools.
