Twelve short years ago a small group of energetic youths set forth to find the Fountain of Knowledge. To do this we would have to spend twelve days and nights on the Trail of Learning. Although we were afraid of the pitfalls of this path, we approached our goal with cautious eagerness. On the first night out we had approximately twenty-three members in the expedition. These included David Wright, Donald Evans, Smitty Smitherman, Mike Nichols, Bill Martin, Kenny Harris, Eugene God- win, James Dunkin, Eva Donna, Cynthia Bearden, Donald Barnes, me, and several others who got lost or drifted off along the way. During the second camp, Raymond Dobbs, Debra Wright, Sara Pharr, and Ronnie Champion wandered in. The third night out nothing happened to us at all. The fourth night, Curtis Dosch and Wayne Ford joined us. Donald Barnes got tired of the scenery and left for more exciting places on his own. The fifth night brought Eddie Gibbs to our camp. Donald Barnes returned the sixth night out and Eddie Gibbs left. Ricky Roberts came late that same day. Suddenly, we found ourselves on a different river with a lot of unfamiliar territory. Then along came Robert Caver, Audrey Chandler, and Jimmy McCullough from Jones, Ala. Shera Burt, Webb Johnson and Larry Jones came in from Burnsville. Pat Elam and Chris Self also joined us. Debra Wright needed a change so she went for a swim in another stream. At this time we would like to look back and thank our Elemen- tary teachers for guiding us thus far on our journey. Our group marched onward and picked up Mike Roberts and Phillip Trammell on the eighth camp. Eddie Gibbs came back to the group too. Our ninth night out really brought in a crowd. These were Barbara Johns, Cathy Foster, Betty Richey, Marsha Rush, Charlene Smith, Becky White, Judy Wyatt, and David Small. Debra Wright got tired of her swim so she came back to our band also. Camp number ten brought on Larry Hart and Stanley Painter. The eleventh brought Annie Berry, Freeman Berry, Gary Jordan, Richard Ogle, and Carl Wear to our fire. Toward the last of our journey and the twelfth night out, Billy Smitherman join- ed us. With our journey nearly at an end, we are still not sure if we have actually found the Fountain of Know- ledge. We are sure that we are much closer to our goal though. Part of the Trail of Learning was rough but we always managed to carry on. During our journey through DCHS , we have had one Homecoming Queen and alternates three other years. Our boys have also done credit to our class. Many of them were on winning teams in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Our journey has been rough, but many good times were enjoyed too. Now, each person must go his own way, leaving the Class of 1970 to be a class no more, but each taking his own journey up the Trail of Suc- cess, looking for the Fountain of Happiness. David Barnes, Historian Last Will and Testament We, the members of the Senior Class of Dallas County High School, County of Dallas, State of Alabama, in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred seventy, being of sound mind and body, bestowing with love and tender sympathy our blessings upon the lower classmen and having no hard feelings toward the faculty, do hereby make and declare this to be our Last Will and Testament: To MR. Class Prophecy Tiptoeing through the tulips instead of working out in gym Our own Bill Martin is the new Tiny Tim. Audio Engineers Chris Self and Mike Roberts have rigged up all sorts of gear To make the loudest amplifiers that anyone can hear. Eddie Gibbs works for Playboy modeling men's fashions He's well suited for this work since dressing is his passion. Audrey Chandler and Shera Burt are pros as their rackets they shove In each tennis match they average at least 40 loves. Airline hostess Sara Pharr is late for all her flights She doesn't like flying and is scared to death of heights. As an office worker Cynthia Bearden rates high On her shorthand and typing her bosses rely. Annie and Freeman Berry think of their mistake with a blush Thinking KKK was a fraternity they tried to join in a rush. Betty Richey as Pollyanna is refreshing with her smile Her optimistic attitude withstands her every trial. Barbara Johns has come to read her rhymes As a song writer her work really blows our minds. Nurse Judy Wyatt takes special care of the sick Her hands are full of pills and needles that stick. Eugene Godwin and Stanley Painter are biological engineers whose specimens are unique They crossed a cow with an albatross and came out with a freak. Garbage men David Small, Wayne Ford, and Rickey Roberts keep our fair city clean Their clever wit has invented a new trash-collecting machine. Though she had quite a time getting the judges to look her way Eva Donner was Miss Plantersville and hopes to be Miss USA. Kenny Harris, Raymond Dobbs, and Robert Caver now deal with watts, volts and static They've set up an electronics lab in a well-equipped attic. Debra Wright and Cathy Foster work nights in a discotheque Their agile feet in go-go boots give the floors of their cages heck. Billy Smitherman and Carl Ware watch for smoke from their fire tower in the air As forest rangers they help our friend Smokey the Bear. Curtis Dosch is a pilot for a jet airline With his head full of air, we're sure he'll do fine. Phillip Trammel has made a dangerous engineer He's invented all sorts of contraptions that no one dares go near. Class Song Continuation of PROPHECY Mike Nichols and Larry Jones chose to work as plumbers They were silly to choose it but their customers are dumber. After graduation, Webb Johnson realized with grief He was best qualified for an outer- Mongolian tribal chief. Pat Elam, Donald Barnes, and Larry Hart race cars for a living From Daytona to Indianapolis the action is truly thrilling. Richard Ogle and Smitty Smitherman hear the mighty ocean roar As life guards on the beach could this ever be a bore. David Wright and Donald Evans, we thought we should mention Are farmers growing crops for the Auburn Extension. Wives Marsha Rush and Becky White are snowed under with chores Looking after children while scrubbing the floors. With lots of luck and plenty of rest Deranged Gary Jordan may pass his mental test. Business manager James Dunkin with his profession is content He guards the dollars carefully and makes sure they're all well spent. Senators Jimmy McCullough and David Barnes went to the U.S. House from here They're campaigning now for the Presidency, traveling far and near. On the spot of DCHS's location Charlene Smith is teaching physical education. LONG , LONESOME HIGHWAY Going down that long, lonesome highway Bound for the mountains and the plains. Sure ain't nothing here gonna tie me And I've got some friends I'd like to see again. One of these days I'm gonna settle down But 'til I do I won't be hanging 'round. Going down that long, lonesome highway Gonna live life my way. fRepeat second stanzaj Yes, I'm going down that long, lonesome highway Gonna live life my way. fsfsff 5555-5255 Ai A f'3s5'f5 Eff' JUNIQRS Carolyn Alexander Donald Barrett Jimmy Bearden Faye Benson Ralph Blackmon William Brown Gary Brzuska Brenda Campbell Mary Catellier Time Out! f . 1 R If K CLASS OFFICERS: Mary, Ricky, Melissa Sandy Frazier Steve Fulford Newton Gray Allen Groves Marzella Harris Willie Johnson Debra Cates Lajuana Causey Mike Chappelle Ben Cobb Connie Connell Johnny Davenport Edna Dobbs Rena Ferguson Jimmy Franks i Q s Shirley Kelly Mike Latham Ricky Lockhart Lucy Lott Randy Lovelady Melissa Martin David Moore Roger Moore Harold Moran Bobby Nichols John Patterson Edwin Pharr Jimmy Pickering Johnny Portwood Jane Price Mary Willitte NOT PlCTUREDg Mary Lee Bender Debra Campbell Joan Epperson Jerry Headley Albert Hicks Linda W ard Clowning Juniors sr-1 f -- f !'
