“CLASS OF 1221 Cn August 29, l9L7 fifty three green freshmen found the door to knowledge and success beginning to open for them when they started their journey with us This class represents the largest one registered in D C C H S since the school was organized All personalities of the group were e mixture of pride fright, confusion, and knowledge After the dreaded day of ini tiation and the acceptance of the WGreen Freshies' as part of the school, all members enjoyed the party given for them by the senior class The group met and elected the following students to guide them through the first year in high school President Eleanor Llossing Vice president Frank Markey Secretary Sue Woolsoncroft Treasurer Dorothy Flynn Student Council Rep Hugh Pence The faculty adviser who has worked with the class of 1951 is Mate Loring The freshmen crew may be on the lowest deck, but several members participated in many activities. Five boys on the second basketball team show promise as future varsity players. These include Lee Murphy, Stanley Brown, Raymond Adkins, Had Cracey, and Hugh Pence. Dorothy Flynn and Sue Steffey, as second team cheer- leaders, also did their part in leading our bulldogs to victory. Other individual workers are Dorothy Flynn, treasurer of F. H. A., Norma Harris, artist on the Buzz, Sue Steffey and Adelaide Pitt, members of band. In addition a goodly number are in vocal music, F. H. A., G. A. A., and Pep Club. The mammouth steam-packet ship, D. C. C. H. S. often found the WFreshies' lost at various times. Perhaps John was on the top-deck looking for a classroom on the first deck! Most managed to survive, however. . As the year ends, the ninth graders realize one thing--'Only three more years and we will be going on a senior trip.' Yo! Yo!
