After an opening loss to Ferris, DC gained momentum and entered conference play with a 9-3 record. The Chargers continued their outstanding play in league action, winning their first eight games by an average margin of 22 points. In the ninth game at Cictercian, the Chargers seemed ripe for an upset. Plagued most of the night by bad officiating and their own poor play, DC found themselves behind by 17 points with only five minutes to play. Everyone had given up but the players, who, in a furious comeback, outscored the Hawks 21 to tie the game and send it into overtime. Two overtimes later, the Chargers won the contest by a score of 83- 77 . DC followed this with three straight conference victories and took second place in the Texas Christian Schools Tourney at Abilene . -4 I . D. on fast break. Team prays before game.
