Because of her devotion to her work, the annual staff dedicates the 1972 SQUIRE to her, Mrs. Miller not only performs required duties but is always willing to go that sec- ond mile. You can always depend upon this Christian woman to help with any worthy cause. Typical of this service, is printing programs, brochures and other materials for cotuitless organizations on campus and off. Being a school nurse, mother, chape- rone and disciplinarian is secondary to her. Confidant to faculty, staff, administra- tion and students, Mrs. Miller continues to portray the spirit of Christianity. I IIINI I' 'I'lllL x ' ' ' L u f 1 fjQfffffIf15 . DCI-IS Cheerleaders Have -P-I-R-I-T Groovy, groovy, groovy, tough, tough, tough is a perfect description of our 19 71-72 cheerleaders. It is a singular accomplishment to be chosen as one of six girls to represent Dallas Christian High School as a cheerleader. But the honor carries with it awe- t some responsibilities. It requires long hours of prac- tice, tons of patience, a strong voice and most of all that unique ability to radiate CHARGER SPIRIT after a sleepless night spent decorating the gym. Through it all Cindy, Denise, Nancy, Renee, Judy and Terrye exemplified the Christ-like attitude that is representative of our school. 1 HEA D CHEERLEA DER Cindy Ctunbie Nancy Straughan Denise Baker I Renee Avance 1 J. Billy Alexander scored both touchdowns to make the final score DC, 12g St. Marks, 7. The spirit of the Chargers began to take shape as the football season com- menced, K Barnes leads way for Billy Alexander ow We Begin To Show Teamwork Charger Spirit seemed to falter at the beginning of the Cistercian game when they were leading 6 to O. But their Spirit revived after the first touchdown by The Hawks. These pictures show Packer kicks as well as he runs. 129 0 Sportswriters Can Be Wrong D,C.H.S. oudasted the Raiders ofNor11h Garland 19 to 8 with a good sound defensive effort against what would have been the winning drive on the Charger 1 yard line. X519 W The Champions Defeat The hampions The chargers repelled the Crusaders of Bishop Gorman '7 to O with a pass from Lybrand to Bearden with 22 seconds left in the first half, The defense stopped the Crusaders on the Charger 4 yard line to save the victory in the second half. The Chargers rolled to their third s1Iai ght conference win and seventh win of the season at the expense of the Fort Worth Christian Cardinals. The Cardinals Homecoming was spoiled by Dallas Chtis1ian's third shut out in a row. 30-0 4 D.C. Unlocks T.I.S.C. The Homecoming trend was REVERSED as Dallas Christian defeated the Hawks of Fort Worth Country Day. lt was a close defensive game, the only sc ore being made by Alexander of Dallas Christian Brenda Hooker was crowned the Homecoming Queen. Big Blue fAnd Red And White-J Tames S.H. 31-O Dallas Christian extended their season record to 9 and 0 against Sacred Heart of Munster. They literally took the shirts off the Tigers backs, as they easily won 31 to O. 6 A , ,A M , p ,k,,k 31,2 ' , , V . - ' I ra .1 :AKYNK 4 The Chargers' only defeat of the season, their final scheduled game with Greenhill, was a real disappointment, This game meant a great deal. Dallas Christian had never had a 10-0 season, The school's reaction can probably best be seen in com- ments by the Senior players themselves: . .. Because of that loss I feel that the team as well as the individual members grew to a tremendous degree . . . I thank God for that one defeat. .. . I was stunned .. . then Monday morning I walked up to school and saw the sign that said, Why Ican't tell, but all things work for the good of those qthatj love the Lord. That picked me up more than anything anyone could have said or done. I finally realized that Jesus was still with me. This verse fRom. 8:2235 has gone th.rough my mind countless times it is hard to understand why some things happen, but I have no doubt in my mind that all ' Things work together for them that love God, , ,, During the game we felt like we were giving 100170, and that's the reason we lost. This taught us a lessong when you think you've pushed as hard as you can, you can always push more. . . . I am just thankful for the games God let us win and for the chance to play with the greatest bunch of guys in the world, , , . Before every game we asked God to help us to be just as good a Christian on the field as we were off. . . . We all had something this year that was needed very badly - character. Had we not have had character and God on our side, we wouldn't have gone 9-l. lv 1. 5, 14 S 3 4 Ha 3 ff 35' , K E S 'E 5 5 if -1 7 Q s, ,- J' r E 6 3? 5 ., l' 1. 1 ful K f :WE iii! iii. ., 'lime 5,-1 1 I' ' H WM TQif':?3irf15' K 7.,. These two men have given a combination of twelve years devoted service. They have been especially kind to the annual staff with their cooperation. Both men have not only given the school many hours of service but they have promoted our school spirit and taught us the importance of a good Christian attitude, For these things and many, many more we wish to give a special thanks to Mr. Barnes and Mr. Campbell. May the Lord richly bless you both in your new work. Autographs W Nj X W31 ggfQ MW Q! 2 0 'No 5 My if?
