This town came to be known as Dalhart, Texas. When a town is born, schools are born. To the pioneer settlers who made it possible for us to have the Dalhart schools of today, this l964 LONE WOLF annual is dedicated. ii E we Administration At the end of a straight road lies our town. The first building of administration, the Dallam County Courthouse, has long crumbled away. Still our town goes on. The direction and form in which the individual grows lies in the strength of the men and wom en who gave him his start toward the life he shall build for the future. s i a ' 7 t u1pemniEemtt1,enIE s Message As a sentinel in a world of turmoil, the public school guides and helps to prepare the students of today for a brighter future. When I view the Empty Saddle, the symbol of those dauntless pioneers who founded this town and its schools, I am humbled to be a part of this progress. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with the students of this school, many of whom are de- scendants of those worthy pioneers. To those who will leave us this year, may God's blessing go with you. May you find the road ahead all that you hope for. May all your dreams come true in the attainment of your life's goal. Xi ia fm 19 7 IJTHHCCHPQ' S L L fesgilgie Congratulations to each 1964 graduate. Your class is to be commended for the maximum effort and leadership it has exhibited. I am extremely proud of your accomplishments and appreciate the gains Dalhart School has made through your labors, It is my sincere hope that each of you has learned to accept responsibility, that you have developed high principles and a real sense of value that will enable you to become an excellent citizen of America. Also, congratulations to the annual staff for this fine publication. It will offer you many fond remernbrances of the 1963-64 school year. Thanks to each of you, faculty and students, for the diligence and enthusiasm shown in all phases of our school's pro- gram. As you look forward to next year, may you unselfishly strive to better yourselves, your school, and your commu- nity. With God's help you can. Through your unified efforts the fame of Dalhart High School can reach heights un- dreamed. Let this be your goal, May God richly bless each of you. 7 1 v x - . An accomplished musician, he plays clarinet in the Golden Wolf Band, saxophone in the stage band, and sings baritone in the choir. He has been named to the All-Regional Band five years, has been a member of the All-State Choir one year, has re- ceived medals for Division I ratings in clarinet solo and ensemble competition of University Interscholas tic League, and has entered instrumental and vocal solo contests at the state level. He is recipient of the John Philip Sousa award, highest local honor to be earned by a Dalhart High School band member. At the state contests in Austin in June, 1963, Eric was named one ofthe nine outstanding musicians in Texas. A highlight of his music experiences was participation in the School Band of America which made a concert tour to England, Belgium, Germany, italy, Switzerland, Monaco, and France during the summer of 1963. LYNN is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Harruff. He received an all-expense paid trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, in December of 1963 as an award for being State winner in the 1963 4-H awards program. Lynn, for the past eight years, has been one of the country's best known 4-H members. His beef calves through the years have won many honors at local and regional stock showsg his exhibits of registered Hereford breeding cattle have become consistent winners. He received the Eagle Scout award, highest in Boy Scouting in 1961 - so Lynn doesn't spend all his time with his beef cattle. He was Dallam 1962 Gold Star boy, an honor a 4-H'er can hold only once.
