To the dislike of some students, English is the most needed and important subject in high school cur- riculums. The course is required for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. It is also offered to the seniors, which prepares them for college English. Equipping the student for his further communica- tion needs, the English courses emphasized self- expression and creativity. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors were taught the fundamentals of gram- mar and composition. They were also introduced to English and American literature and its influence on the world. Speech classes provided the needed experience in relating ideas effectively. Ease and confidence for public speaking were also stressed. Providing the student with different media to help him in his studies, the library was used extensively as a study and resource center. English and F Mrs. Muriel Wessol, B.S.
