A year is an unfolding---a little turn of the long life scroll. We have finished this year with much joy, a little sadness, greater hope, and true accomplishment. It has been the privilege of the Senior Class to give Echoes of this memorable year in this Edition. Perhaps in future time, it may conjure for us a magic vision of a year of our high school life. Our earnest desire is that this book may be a credit to the school, and may in a small way express the spirit and fellowship of Daleville High. -The Editor M ixikixikixiiflisiiiirliikkk First Row-Thelma .lm-kson, Lois Kitterman, Catherine Orehaugh, Helen Franklin, .lean Bronnenberg. They beat us by only a few points after a hard struggle. The first team squad were so completely worn out that Coach Heath sent the second team in to play Yorktown in the consolation game. They staged a real comeback in the last four minutes and tied the score. Beany sank a long one in the overtime and won the game. Burcaw and Ross just couldn't miss the basket that night. A basket-ball team that can beat Eaton, Selma and Yorktown, cer- tainly is a team to be proud of. The Sectional tourney proved disastrous. We again encountered those Cowan Blackhawks. It seemed that Daleville just couldn't get goin' and they beat us 32-24. After the tourney Sulphur Springs came over for an evenings enter- tainment and we had a fine time trying to stop them but they bettered us 29-16. Another out of county team, the Cadiz Spainards were good enough to beat us by three points, the score 27-24. Our blood enemies the Middle- town Cossacks dropped in to see if Daleville still had the old fight that they showed in the first encounter and probably wished they had have stayed at home because Mark enjoyed another one of his hot shot nights and Daleville took them into camp by a score of 22-21. The Center aggregat- ion invited us over and they were lucky to escape with a 26 to 22 victory. We were hosts to Kennard next and we finished on top by a 26 to 22 decis- ion. Then canle the climax and conclusion of our seasons endeavors. About all of Daleville went over to Yorktown and after half of the play were behind only one point but something happened during the last half, for the Tiger pulled out and left us. At the final gun it was 33-16 Yorktown. Prospects for next year are bright, but the school will be without the services of four fighting Bronchose-Clevenger, Rozelle, Michael and Byrum. Next year the Coach will have Burcaw, Clendenen, Lemond, Dull, Spangler, Ross and the Junior high squad and should develop a team thats hotter than hot. Taking the season as a whole, we have been very successful. Al- though Daleville was never given any credit by dopesters we have upset some of the strongest teams in this vicinity and given a jolt to the pride of Henry County. The Bronchos always do the unexpected. A basket-ball team doesn't necessarily have to win every game to be good. To lose fairly is by far better than to win by hook or crook. And the Bronchos have been named as the cleanest and fairest team in Delaware County. That alone is something to he proud of. Speaking musically our team sure has given us something to remember them by and so until next year we'll say Au Revoir but not goodbye, l'll see you in my dreams, When the works all done next fall, and regardless of the team we'll call it Yours and Mine. 52322552 M:+ZMsZ5r2s5Mi?.9Si32kZEQMM First Row -lmnuld Ross. During our second and third years we kept our trusty scout, a sure enough pathfinder, who encouraged us to march safely through the denser forests, headed by the chiefs of the departments of learning. At the last gathering of the nuts when the September moon rose on high, we gathered for our most noteworthy attempt to stem the tide of learning.
