FOOTBALL The Dale Aces closed a very successfull952 season by winning the second PocketAthletic Conference Championship in D. H. 5. history. The season record ofthe black and gold was a very impressive 7-1-1. After an early season defeat and tie, the Aces won 6 straight games under the expert coaching of Dutch Bailey who had his first successful season in four years of Coach- ing in D. H. S. Hedges LeRoy Gruelich Suhrheinrich Truelove Crews Roos Sergesketter 3 ROCKPORT 28: ACES l8 The Aces in the opening game of the season were defeated by the Rockport Zebras 28-18 although the Aces took early leads of 12-0 and 18-8. Playing be- fore one of the largest crowdsin PAC history the Aces showed great potentialities. The offense was good and the blocking was commendable but that vital cog of tackling was not there. Hedges scored the first touchdown for Dale and LeRoy scorefl two more. ACES 365 CANNELTON 14 Showing the same scoring punch but improved tack- ling, the Aces belted the Cannelton Bulldogs 36-l4. It was the Aces all the way, as Crews ran wild scor- ing four touchdowns, Hedges and Creulich also scor- ed for the Aces. ACES 223 TELL CITY 22 The Dale Aces playing a very poor brand of football in the first half, rallied in the last halfto gain a 22- 22 tie with the slightly favored Marksmen of Tell City. Tell City was leading at the half 22-8. In the last half Hedges scored 2 touchdowns and had a dropkick for the tying margin. ACES 38: OWENSVILLE 20 Playin ood football the Aces trounced theOwens- ville lgigkapoos 38-20 on the Owensville Gridiron. Featuring line plungingand strong downfield blocking the Dale team ran up a 0 -0 score at the half. Hedges again was the scoring leader. Crews also scored in the last half.
