“Q S X by 6 fxfr- ff Qlaelsieellw CLASS HISTORY Four years ago a momentous event took place A ne class was born the class of 1047 On September l, 1945, sixty eight boys and girls assembled in the large study hall to enroll as freshmen At their first class meeting they elected their officers Billy Webb, president J Arthur Webb, vice president, Rapph Spsyd, sec trees Paul Brittingham, Byford Reed, and Dorothy Hemmer, reporters Their freshmen year was enlightened by two class parties The first, a hay rlde to Lincoln Park and the second one, n narty in the gym Hot- dogs, sandwiches, and soft drinks ere served to all The freshmen spon sore were Piss Fuller, Vrs Winkler and Fr Tevault In APP11 1944, after exams were ove the pupils bade their class mates Hood bye with cheerful hope of seeing tnem once more after summer vacation When they returned on August 30, 1944 they folnd that several had moved HWHY, and a few others thought they had discovered va ious Jobs which seemed mo e important Those missing were Faye Brown, 'arl Beier, Estner Wannlnger, Earl and Terome Jacob, Farrell Yemp, Elmore Kerstelns, Ed2Hr Leistne , Pdgar Llndsuer Vlmer Meyer, Toyce llchel, Patsy Fedcalf, Herbert Obermeur and Thelma fskrldge To balence up our losses we also had some ne comers Fugene Vlro , from Chrieney Doris qmlthhert, from Evansville Roy Schenk , from Qrunnerdsle Seminary, 'snfon Ohio and Richard Hubster from Dubois Fountv, aking a total of fifty eight For cldss officers they chose Byfo d Reed president hilly Vebb vice president Wllda Qtepwere sec trees Joyce Ann Richa d and Paul Brlttlnzham, reoorters After s very sucdessful season the class ad vanced into their summe vacation us seein returning to 'de r old Dele High' The Tunior year found only forty nine pupils returnlnr Those who had decided to discontinue ga therlng kno ledge et Dale High e e Andrew Bosler Paul Brlttlnghnm, Bernard Buechler Sera hotter eich, Harold Meyer, Roscoe Vedcalf Jr , Ir vin and The esla Schaeffer, Robe t Qchum, Ferl qmith Billy Webb and Richard Hubster The Tunlors we e given the pleasure of welcoming four new pxplls, Doretha Fleck, from Uollend Tune Potts and Benjamin Walker, from Gentryvllle and Martha Lsvson, from V rlon 'ounty The Junior class officers e e Kathleen Reinke, nresldent Byford Reed, vice oresident Dorothy Vemmer, sec t ess Roberta Uandschiegel and Patricia Denning, reoorters Vlth tae help of t e1r ponsor, Mr Bockstahler, du ing our Junior year we sold cokes and fudgicles et all the home basketball g mes The net proceeds from these sales amounted to 9120, putting a balance of 8?4O 74 in the treasury of the Junior Class Enjoying s very successful yeer we soon found school over and into summer vac tion e proceeded On September 2, 1946, forty f ree smiling 1nd happy senlors took their rese ved seats ln the front section of the study mall and started their last year of the long jou ney But again they missed some famll lar faces Doret a Fleck, Vernita Dilger 'at ine Vogel, Kathryn Jen- ninps, June Potter, Joseoh Pund and Douglas Rlgrle had wltbd n n Two new members b joined the cless vere James Bar ett, from Albion, Ill lnols and Charles Flayton, from Poseyvllle, Indiana With calm and dlenlty thev soon elected their class officers Ben jamln Walker, president s cret ry Joan Lud lg, treasurer Dorothy Uem er and Jovce Ann Richard, reporters The Senior Flass, at present, is comvosed of forty one members, due to the fact that Martha Lawson withdre at Fhrlstmas and James Cooper will gr duets next fear Out of forty one pupils, thirty ix of them come to scrool on the bus every day, t ertv flve live ln Carter Township We believe that the evoerience gained DQ leadership that e have devel ped hlle wt Uale Fish ill be of decided advent ge to us in ears to come Vllllsm Rice, vice president Uoris Anne Wahl xy page ESX NN ,ef QSISN- sf X N.ZL... s-56 X Nmoqmr aff N L Q' wx V N fi 7,XQ,Y fQ e 'gli' mfs SN Q S J' 4- --.
