VM., fm-may BOSTATER SHIELDS HASS STRA HAN KEQWN COLLINS GRAN GER NOLEN BA UM GARTNER The primary responsibility of the gun and missile gunnersmates of W division has been to keep the 3 f5O caliber gun mounts and the Terrier missile launching systems in top notch working order throughout the WestPac cruise. Testing out and repairing the ship's loadout of birds is a full time job. Those are the routine duties that must be accomplished at all times, but in West- Pac, in these times, they take on added importance. In addition, Condition III watches, eight hours a day in the missile house or on the mounts result in a sched- ule that has kept the GMM's and GMG'S turning to for the entire deployment. Fortunately, the opportunity to fire a missile or our three inch battery did not arise in our months on station but if it had these are the men who had to be always ready, and they were. Y
