ea eau fwm7Zow WV fx The Sen1ors of 1955 rece1ved a spec1al 1nv1tat1on to attend the Rose Bowl Game at Pasadena Callf 1n 1965 The class was thr11led s1nce they would be reun1ted w1th many of the1r former school mates SOYYIC of the members set out on the Journey 1n the battered but falthful Carry all As they were Jerkmg along Harvey Matheson shot by on h1s newly purchased motorcycle Justreturmng from a s1ghtsee1ng tour 1n Europe Entermg the gates Allen Johnson was seen selhng h1s newly d1scovered Johnson Jumbo s1zed Popcorn Open1ng the game Chr1st1ne Haugen sang the Nat1onal Anthem fol lowed by the great k1ck off by the recently elected Presldent of the Un1ted States Norman Hanson He won that honor ch1efly due to the cam pa1gn1ng of Joyce Ellefson At half t1me the enterta1nment cons1sted of a parade led by Alleen Frlestad on her Morgan Sta1l1on Late 1n the last quarter the game was t1ed 7 7 when the famous quarter back Don W1erson took the ball and smashed through the de fens1ve11ne runn1ng 80 yards for the w1nn1ng touchdown He was tackled cross1ng the goal l1ne Durmg th1s play he broke h1s arm and was rush ed to the h1ghly spoken of hosp1tal founded by Lavon Solberg 1n 1964 wh1ch 1S to be ded1cated th1s evemng At th1s hosp1tal we f1nd V1v1an Sjule who IS pres1dent of the staff and Carol Nelson head surgeon who 15 to set Don s arm After the game the class went out to the a1rport 1n the battered but st111 faxthful Carry all to meet Marlys Brenden who just flew 1n from her prosperous o1l f1elds 1n Texas and Alv1nna Kjos who was stewardess on the plane The whole class attended the ded1cat1on of the hosp1tal that even1ng where they were enterta1ned by the two top record1ng stars Howard Johnson w1th h1s electr1c gu1tar and Lowell Haug w1th h1s old t1me but ton accord1on There were only two members of the class of 1955 that couldn't be 1n Pasadena Ca11f They were John Haakenson who was busy tra1n1ng for the O1ymp1c games and Jan1ce Anf1nson who was starr1ng 1n 'The Robe replay1ng the part she had 1n her h1gh school days It was rather d1sappo1nt1ng when It was all over and they had to p1le back 1nto the Junk all and ramble on towards home By the way they d1dn t make lt 16 -fri.: X I , . .Y . . . , . . . . , - , . a . , . . - , - ' 2 1 ' ' ' ' n . . - , ' 9 s ' , . s Q . a 1 l a 9 ' ' I - , . . 1 1 2 . , . . , . . . 1 . . . .
