Two practices a week and more when necessary were insisted upon as a qu- alification for band membership, One new instrument was added to the band - a baritone saxophone, played by Loretta Pieper. Band membership increased when several new members from Davis joined, At Christmas time the Band joined with the Chorus and gave a concert under the direct tion of Mr, Kiburz and Mr. Sehaper, The band did not play at basketball games this year owing to the fact that not enough ne- mbers could come to the games. The Band and Chorus sponsored the Home Ta- lent Show on February sixteenth. The me- ney made from this affair is to be devoted to the purchase of new music. This year Dakota was host to the annual county Music Festival, The Band took an active part in making this Festival in- structive and entertaining. .-.1-Q-vu-n-s q..,.,' lla. This was a three act eo- medy with the plot centering around the tro- ubles of-two college boysg Tom and Oakie, at graduation time. .Tom, who is girl-shy, had complications set in when he learned that syivia, the girl from home and the one his father had picked as suitable for Tom's wifq was coming to the commencement. As this is very annoying to Tom, who has an intense dislike for Sylvia, Okie cane to the rescue with a bright idea. The scheme is to stage a fake engagement for Ten to throw Sy- lvia off his trail. The victim of the enga- gement, unknown to either of the boys, is none other than Barbara Sanford who has been gunning for Tom by masquerading as a house maid in their apartment while the real maid was trying to land a job in the movies. All this naturally develops into quite an H+ volved mess which finally ends happily with no ngirl-shyn males present, J: .g1,. '.a. .
