THE TALEBEARER -nuwpqirnu BIG BROTHER AND SISTER DAY Big Rrother and Sister Day is a new plan adopted for the first time this year. The purpose of the day is to provide a particular time for the seventh and eighth grade students in our district to visit the high school so that they may get an idea of high school life and learn some of its values and advant- ages. Eighty-four students visited the school on Friday, March 18, repre- senting the following schools: l Hickory Grove Dakota Rock Grove Pleasant Yiew Rock City Tammany Brown Mt. Hope Brush Creek Silver Springs Berlin Lancaster Buckeye Afolkey Wiinneshiek The classes planned their programs with reports and demonstrations in order to make them interesting and understandable to the grade student. THE TALEBEARER m THE STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council, whose purpose is to discuss problems of the school and plans for its betterment, was organized in 1923. The school treasurer, the athletic treasurer, a member selected by each class or society, and the president of each class are members of the organization, whose ad- visory member is the principal. The plans discussed at its weekly meetings and carried out under the supervision of its members have all been for the advancement of the school. A few of its accomplishments during the year are: 1. Conducting the sale of reserved seats for the basket-ball season. 2. Advertising of basket-ball games. 3. Installing lockers in the gym. 4. Sponsoring the sale of magazine subscriptions. 5. Furnishing a rest-room in the school. 6. Maintaining the school telephone. 7. Padding the stage at the gym. 8. Sponsoring Big Brother and Sister Day.
