They also re- minded us ot the great need tor Finances to support these schools and requested our help. Matthew ISQO Two Highway Patrolmen and the Douglas County Sheriff met with the student body one afternoon. They in- formed the students of things for which teenagers are arrested and can be fined. The main activity of the Future Teachers Club this year was going to the grade school during study halls. While there, they spent time with the students by answering questions and helping them with various things. The Future Nurses Club was kept quite busy again this year working in the Platte and Corsica Nursing Homes. They would work every Saturday in both the morning and afternoon. In the be- ginning of the year they went to Redfield and went through the State Hospital and School. At Christmas time they made center pieces for the Platte Nursing Home On April 30, the Platte Hospital Auxiliary put on a tea for both the Platte and New Holland girls. Then on May 8 the club put on a tea in the gym For the sophomore girls and the mothers of the Junior and Senior girls. TRAIN TRAFFIC SAFETY IS.. A bulletin board made by several Traffic Safety members. This year on November 9 and TO, Mr. Bonnema and eight students attended the Traffic Safety Council at Pierre. Following registra- tion at the Capitol, they were welcomed by the gov- ernor. GROEN Track Coach The track team participated in eight meets this year and had a very good season. Randy Niew- enhuis set a new school record in broadiump w a jump of 2O'll lf4". Dale Severson tied the record in the 880 yard run. The DCHS track team placed third in the conference meet, missing second place by only two points. Two of the relay teams were allowed to go to the state track meet in Mitchell because of their placement in the regional track meet. The results were very good.
