PARENT-SENIOR BANQUET The banquet was held in the basement of the Platte Christian Reformed Church, April 29, at 6:30. This banquet was sponsored by the Dakota Christian High Auxiliary. The master of ceremonies was Rev. Petersen. He did an excellent job of keeping everyone in a festive mood throughout the evening. The group-singing was led by Mr. Achterhof who was accompanied by Mrs. Bode. Rev. Petersen read scripture and led opening prayer. Mr. Oscar Vander Zee, President of the Board, gave the toast to the seniors. This was returned by Clifford Vander Ley giving the toast to the parents. After the dinner, Mr. Sietserna gave the thirty year prophecy of the senior class. A group of ladies from the auxiliary gave a skit, When Polly Put the Pepper in Tea. Mrs. Art Hui- zenga gave a reading in which she acted out, Mr. Klas Vander Klok reading the locals. Both numbers referred to people in the group. Mr. Hiemstra gave a speech on the topic, For Such a Time as This. Rev. Bode closed the banquet with prayer. JUN IOR-SEN IOR BANQUET The junior and senior classes of this year will be distinguished from all other junior and sen- ior classes of this school. The juniors are the first to give a banquet in honor of the seniors, and the seniors are the first to guests of honor at a Junior-Senior Banquet. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held at the Lawler Hotel in Mitchell on Friday evening, May 9. The theme carried out was ln a Garden. The centerpieces were miniature gardens sur- rounded by white picket fences and an arch with climbing roses entwining over it. The program booklets were shaped like an entrance to a garden with the pages being the gateway. Junior Vander Tuin, president of the junior class, welcomed the seniors. He also served as toastrnaster. Clifford Vander Ley responded to the welcome. The program also included prayer, scripture reading, group singing, special musical numbers by Mrs. Voortman and Rev. De Rooy, and an inspirational message delivered by Rev. Bergsma of Colton, South Dakota. The happy group left, long to remember those moments of fellowship together. 29
