ARTICLE IV We, Dings and Dongs, now leave this page of the annual so you can look through the rest of the book. 11 ' l C LASS POEM The girl who gives the tint and punch to this year's class is Darlene Vander Heiden, a very pretty lass. She's had 3 years of love and ro- mance and will marry as soon as Uncle Sam gives her feller a chance. Erwin Bultje always looks so innocent and so- ber, and that really is a fact. But watch out! He's really smooth, he does his mischief be- hind your back. Elaine Noteboom is that fine Todd County girl, who is always full of fun. She has talent, style, and beautyg she will never say har sh words to anyone. Gladys Van Vuren is the quiet type, she always strives to do things right, she always pleases in every way and does her work without delay. The Vander Zee twins are very much alike. They both are very quiet, and both are very bright. They do their work with competence and are always right on time. They both are very friend- ly, and their etiquette is fine. Most people know Clifford Vander Ley as very bashful and shy. But don't let hirn kid you, he's not that kind of guy. When he's with a group of boys, he doe sn't say too much. But leave a bunch of girls around him, he'll add a laugh- ing touch. Whenever you see Lloyd Muckey you also see his car. His car does sometimes give him trou- ble, but Lloyd can fix it. He has had it apart before. He knows a lot about mechanics, and likes to piddle around with technical gixnmics. Now Arlene Kok is very fast at every thing. She plans to marry in the Spring. She likes to cook, and she does a lot of baking. She says, It doesn't involve much thinking. Vivian Vander Zee is a faithful lass, and always ready to accept a task. She does her best at everything and to her studies she is loyal. But her ever ready blush her fun does sometirnes spoil. Dorothy Maas is the brain and expert of the class. She takes her studies seriously and does her best at every given task. She plans to go to college in the fall and wishes to be a teacher, best of all. Carol Jongejeugd always has a merry smile, and if she gets started she will giggle a while. She has a good tirne wherever she is and some- thing that's fun she surely won't miss. Margaret Vander Tuin is very friendly and always ready for some fun. She is very good at speaking and will converse with anyone. She plans to go to college and soon become a teacher. We wish her a very happy and blessed future. As for the author of this poem, there is not much to say of him. You just make your evalua- tion, and he will sure go along with it. A little of all now is known and I have come to the end of my poem. LEROY FEENSTRA in F 5 hh k H 1 n mam N 5 E 1 V . This banquet was sponsored by the Dakota Christian High Auxiliary. The master of ceremonies was Rev. Petersen. He did an excellent job of keeping everyone in a festive mood throughout the evening. The group-singing was led by Mr. Achterhof who was accompanied by Mrs. Bode. Rev. Petersen read scripture and led opening prayer. Mr. Oscar Vander Zee, President of the Board, gave the toast to the seniors. This was returned by Clifford Vander Ley giving the toast to the parents. After the dinner, Mr. Sietserna gave the thirty year prophecy of the senior class. A group of ladies from the auxiliary gave a skit, When Polly Put the Pepper in Tea. Mrs. Art Hui- zenga gave a reading in which she acted out, Mr. Klas Vander Klok reading the locals. Both numbers referred to people in the group. Mr. Hiemstra gave a speech on the topic, For Such a Time as This. Rev. Bode closed the banquet with prayer. JUN IOR-SEN IOR BANQUET The junior and senior classes of this year will be distinguished from all other junior and sen- ior classes of this school. The juniors are the first to give a banquet in honor of the seniors, and the seniors are the first to guests of honor at a Junior-Senior Banquet. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held at the Lawler Hotel in Mitchell on Friday evening, May 9. The theme carried out was ln a Garden. The centerpieces were miniature gardens sur- rounded by white picket fences and an arch with climbing roses entwining over it. The program booklets were shaped like an entrance to a garden with the pages being the gateway. Junior Vander Tuin, president of the junior class, welcomed the seniors. He also served as toastrnaster. Clifford Vander Ley responded to the welcome. The program also included prayer, scripture reading, group singing, special musical numbers by Mrs. Voortman and Rev. De Rooy, and an inspirational message delivered by Rev. Bergsma of Colton, South Dakota. The happy group left, long to remember those moments of fellowship together. 29 GRADUATION Front row: lLeft to rightl: Mr. C.
