Phi Beta Gamma Officers: Scott Brown; Treasurer, Mike Gross; Vice President, Danny Quartironi; President, Matt Greene; Secretary, John Thompson; Record- ing Secretary. by Matt Greene Phi Beta Gamma has been an active fraternity here at Daemen since 1968. Ever since then, the organization's main goals have been to work for the betterment of the brotherhood, the College community, and the outside community. As in the past, we've been quite active on campus again this year. Some of our activities include; the Abnormal Formal, helping Admissions on College Night, a Haunted House during Halloween to benefit Special Olympics, the Caribbean Cruise, Tuck—ins, and Inter-Fraternity sports events. I'M sure most people have noticed that, at these activities, different faces with P.B.G. shirts are present. This exemplifies how Phi Beta Gamma is not just forgotten after graduation. It lives on forever in each brother, and they often come back to Daemen to show it. We're very proud of our past and intend to be part of Daemen College for years to come. Sig Ep is highly active on campus, involved extensively in the Student Association, the Soccer and baseball teams and also with members on the basketball team. Campus Life 103 104 Campus Life 106 Campus Life Commuters By Jim Teator A college campus is not only made up of the resident students but also the commuter students. Here at Daemen College, the com- muters play a large role throughout the campus. They are active in sports, campus activities, and many hold student offices. On these four pages we tried to show who the other half of Dae- men College is. There would be no Daemen without the commuters! Campus Campus Activities 109 Activities Freshmen Orientation By Peggy Simmons Freshman Orientation is a time for the incomming Freshmen to prepare themselves for their next four years of college. Luckily for all freshmen, they don't go through it alone. They have Mentors and Orientation Leaders for support and guidance. The week of Freshmen Orientation is filled with placement tests, fun and games, meet- ings with Mentors and Orientation Leaders, which help Freshmen feel more at home. It's a busy but neces- sary week. In the long run, its a great time for everyone. Campus Activities 113 Super September Weekend By Nancy Squiteri Super September Weekend; the name says it all! M-80 provided the hot sounds that told your feet to get up and dance! A trip to Darien Lake, Sunday was enjoyed by all. As the weekend drew to a close we knew it had truely been a Super September Weekend! 114 Campus Activities 115 Abnormal Formal By Matt Greene On the evening of September 14, Phi Beta Gamma presented it's first ever “Abnormal Formal. As the guests entered through the mouth in the front door, they realized that this wasn't an ordinary gathering. Phi Be- ta's own Tim White, the “Ebony Flash, rocked the large crowd throughout the night. All who attend- ed had a crazy time. It was a festive occassion, as the stu- dents of Daemen College were given the oppor- tunity to see the wedding of the semester. The marriage was the first for both parties. After the wedding, the happy couple danced until dawn (or when the Social Room closed), and then had a private reception at the world reknown Rathskeller where only the best go. Thank you, Junior Class, for making the wed- ding of Charles and Lisa something people will talk about for a good while. Campus Activities 119 Boxer Shorts 120 Campus Activities By Charles Phillips On September 29, 1984, Sigma Phi Epsilon presented their 1st annual Boxer Short Party. It was an evening filled of shorts and beautiful legs. The festive event began with the Brothers of Sig-Ep displaying them- selves to the college community, in which our motto is new ideas for a new beginning. The students of DC enjoyed themselves to the wee hours of the morning. Sigma Phi Epsilon thanks all that attended and we have more suprises for you. P.J. Nut Bolt By Kris Williamson Bathrobes, boxer shorts, and bunny slip- pers were all part of this years 3rd Annual P.J. Nut and Bolt Party sponsored by the Resident Council. As people arrived in their PJs', the girls were given nuts and the guys were given bolts. While dancing and drinking under the stars, people spent the night screw- ing around looking for a perfect match. Three couples found their mates, and were awarded prizes, and at one o'clock everyone went home all ready for bed after a very enjoyable evening. 1st place: Bill Doyle Dee Dorion 2nd place: Hollywood Eileen McGregor 3rd place: Armondo Green Renee Vacanti Campus Activities 121 Commuter Day 122 Campus Activities Commuter Day By Bonnie Walker On Thursday, October 4th Com- muter Council and S.A. held its first annual Commuter Council Day. The party's theme was based on rock music from the 1950's through the 1980's. Live entertain- ment was provided by Oingo-Poingo, the first live band of the year. The theme of the party, Rockin' thru the Ages was carried out by decorations and costumes representing the past three decades. A variety of attire was worn; from the latest Punk rockers, rebellious Flower children and the do- wop 1950's being the greatest high- lights. The party was a great success and the Sophomore Class Officers ex- tend a rockin' thank you to all those students who attended. By Charles Phillips On Saturday October 12, 1984, the Junior Class presented their 1st Annu- al Carnival. The day was full of fun and prizes. The walls are bare the beds are stripped the furniture all back in hospital style form As I look around the room I see faces and hear voices some in humorous tones others in deep conversation. I remember the parties and the late night talks I remember the arguments and the lessons learned. Oh, if the walls could talk what a story we would hear of the typical activities of a college year. I remember the many acquaintances and the few that became close friends who have already made lasting impressions on my mind. I grew up so much here and a great part of my life was spent within these four walls and I learned so much about myself. This room was my home for so very long and now I must leave it and it is very hard. As I look ahead the memories leave as easily as they came but I shall not forget them because memories are forever.
