Text from Pages 1 - 136 of the 1966 volume:

And you wait, awaiting the one to make your small life grow: the mighty, the uncommon, the awakening of stone, the depths to be opened below. Now duskily in the bookcase gleam the volumes in brown and gold; you remember lands you have wandered through, the pictures and the garments of women lost of old. And you suddenly know: It was here! You pull yourself together, and there stands an irrevocable year of anguish and vision and prayer. Ranier Maria Rilke ■ Summit 1966 ROSARY HILL COLLEGE BUFFALO, NEW YORK 5 7 In Memoriam CHARLES J. WICK Oct. 12, 1911-Jan. 11, 1966 . . . the wise man looks into space and does not regard the small as too little, nor the great as too big, for he knows that there is no limit to dimensions. —Lao-Tse Mr. Charles J. Wick played a significant role in the development of Rosary Hill College since its inception in 1948. Through the years he gave fine and generous service as a Chairman of the Advisory Board and as a member of the Board of Trustees. The College formally recognized the excellence of this man's habit of service in 1959. He was then awarded the highest honor that Rosary Hill can bestow, the Mother Magdalen Daemen Award. This award recognized his dedicated service to the entire Buffalo community. And in 1964 the College honored Mr. Wick with a Doctor of Laws degree. The students of Rosary Hill College offer tribute to this fine gentleman and friend. 9 Left: Sister M. Patrice, O.S.F., M.L.S., Librarian. Top: Sister M. Adele, O.S.F., M.A., Assistant Librarian. 'And one calm summer night Rich- ard Cory went home and put a bullet through his head. —Edwin Arlington Robinson 131 Lie back, daughter, let your head be tipped back in the cup of my hand. Gently, and I will hold you. Spread your arms wide, lie out on the stream and look high at the gulls. A dead- man's float is face down. You will dive and swim soon enough where this tidewater ebbs to the sea. Daughter, believe me, when you tire on the long thrash to your island, lie up, and survive. As you float now, where I held you and let go, remember when fear cramps your heart what I told you: lie gently and wide to the light-year Stars, lie back, and the sea will hold you. —Philip Booth 132
