VOL 32 1974 TALISMAN Dadeville High School Dadeville, Alabama Editor..................................Betsy Reynolds Business Manager......................Cynthia Pearson Advisor....................Mrs. Adeline B. Treadwell CONTENTS FACULTY ATHLETICS SENIORS ORGANIZATIONS UNDERCLASSMEN ACTIVITIES FEATURES ADVERTISEMENTS Madness is only a variety of mental non-conformity, and we are all individualists here. We are the music makers, And we are the dreamer of dreams . . . World-losers and world- forsakers, on whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world forever, it seems. Arthur O'Shaughnessey Many people stay after scnool for one reason or another. This elite group is comprised of practicing football players, band members and cheerleaders. The students caught leaving empty bottles in the trash can, being noisy at recess or smoking in the bathrooms stay after school for a different reason. Happy, we celebrate. Gaily. Noisily. Excitedly. For the year brings with it many examples of victory. 7 But through it all runs a ribbon of sturdy silence. Togetherness can't be explained by noises or words. It’s best considered in the quietness of our afterthoughts. 8 We the Senior Class of 1974 dedicate this edition of the TALISMAN to Mrs. Peggy Thompson, whose radiant personality and spirit of enthusiasm inspire others to give their best to all their endeavors. You, the class of '74, are living in a troubled time. You are graduating into a world that has one ''crisis'' after another - Watergate, ’' the ' 'Ecology crisis,'' the ’ 'Energy crisis.'' These are very real crises that you must face; however, they were caused by human greed, dishonesty, and lack of respect for nature and one's fellowman and can, therefore, be avoided. It is the hope of the faculty and administration of Dadeville High School that you have been adequately prepared to meet the future with enough understanding to help prevent future periods of crisis. The following quote by an anonymous author states, very simply, a guide for life which can help prevent crises in our world: In order to pay your way as you go, as far as you can ever pay your way, you owe to mankind your friendship, your interest, and whatever you can do to better the condition of others. Congratulations upon your graduation from high school and may God richly bless each of you with the gifts of benevolence, honesty, and respect for nature and one's fellowman.
