sags. THE SENIOR CLASS OF DADEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL Dadeville, Alabama calls your attention to the historical cover on this, the 1956 TALISMAN. The front cover is an air view of the HORSESHOE BEND area. It was here on the bend of the Tallapoosa river on March 27, 1814, that the Creek Indian nation was defeated by American forces under Andrew Jackson. This victory cleared the way for the advance of settlement in the South. The cover also pictures the monument at the site of the battle. It is hoped that Congress will recognize the historical importance of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend by incorporating this area into the Federal Park system. Such memorials tend to make our people more appreciative of the sacrificial heritage which is ours. VOLUME XIV Editor, Gail Nickerson Business Manager, Sharon Mullican Advisor, Mrs. Adeline B. Treadwell County and local officials assembled for ground breaking cere- monies for an auditorium for the Dadeville Schools on September 23, 1955. It is hoped that the building will be ready for the 1956 gradu- ation exercises. In Loving Memory of MRS. MILDRED G. Does she really have lots to do, being Assistant Editor and Class President? Can you imagine Sharon saying, Money, to someone? Well, she did! Patsy takes subscriptions at school then dictation from an attorney after school. Joyce, wise up, you have a big job next year. Dorman, maybe Sharon will teach you how to sell. Peggy, what gave you the idea to add more personalities? Mr. Foshee said, If talking is a qualification, Pat will make a good Club Editor.
