• • We, the staff. Present to you the 1952 issue of T H E THIS MIN In the years to come as you turn the page may each hold for you some small token of happiness of the days spent at your ALMA MATER DADEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL Dadeville, Alabama Volume X Mr. A. V. Meigs. We will meet the challenge of the future better prepared because of you, our teacher, counsellor, and friend. Because we love you and appreciate the patience and understanding you have shown throughout the years, we, the Senior Class, happily dedicate this 1952 TALISMAN to you. . . . The world is hungry and searching for young men and young women who have ambition, ability, character, and determination. Never before in the history of our country has there been a greater need for men and women of high moral standards and a determination to dare and to do the things that should be done Never before has there been a greater challenge to young men and women to do things for the sake of their country and for humanity. Never before have there been greater opportunities available for those who really want to do something worthwhile. There have been very few times in the history of our nation when the dollar was worth so little and an idea worth so much. I extend my congratulations to the Senior Class for your achievements thus far, but would impress upon you that you have not succeeded as yet. People succeed only when they reach their final destination. You are succeeding only as you accomplish your daily tasks in a creditable manner Teachers and parents cannot make a success of you; they can only help you to do the job. The determination to succeed must come from within. Your only limitation is yourself. America of the future will be what you make of it. You will determine the type of educational system, the type of government, and the moral standards of future citizens of this good land of ours. The world owes you nothing; you owe everything you are or hope to be to your Creator and to the service of humanity. Work and plan to that end and when you have reached your final destination, you will have succeeded. Accept the challenge of our times to dare and to do the things that are right and serve your country and humanity to your fullest capacity. Please feel free to call upon me if ever I can be of service to you and yours. Sincerely, A H. Wallace Miss Myra McIntosh...... Mrs. Emma Downing....... Mrs. Mary L. Burnett... . Mrs. Mattie W. To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, church and community To raise the standards of home life. To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education. The Dadeville P.T.A. Education committee recommends: 1. That parents visit teachers and classrooms. 2. That parents and teachers attend P.T.A. Meetings. 3. That parents study report cards and daily work brought home by the child. 4. That parents insist on child's doing school work at home, always being inter- ested in the child’s problems and accomplishments. 5. Teachers visit homes of children so as to better understand their problems 6. Ask yourself this question, What kind of school would my school be if all parents were just like me? This is a cordial invitation to you to help your P.T.A. accomplish its goal for better homes, school and community. JOIN YOUR P T. A OFFICERS President..........................Mrs. Joe C.
