I have been impressed by the competence of the faculty and their genuine interest in youth. They are and must continue to be challenged by students who have an eagerness to learn. With a good student body, good teaching personnel, consistent leadership, and a fine community, we can show everyone in 1987-88 just how great DHS really is . Spirit Week began in excitement because students could dress-up in different fashions to express their spirit for the upcoming game against Towns County. Monday was Layout Day; ironically it was Teachers Work Day. Tuesday was Hat and Shades Day, Wednesday was College Day, Thursday was Beach and Sweats Day, and finally Friday was the honor- able Blue and Gold Day. The spirit-filled week ended with the seniors winning the spirit chain, the float contest, and the pep rally. All the excitement of the week helped carry the football team through to their 62-6 victory over Towns Co. that night. Remember The Feeling . . . Powder Puff Who is going to win the 1987 Powder Puff Game? was in the minds of all Junior and Senior girls. Both teams practiced for weeks to make Thursday night ' s game exciting as well as challenging. The first team to score a touchdown was the Juniors, but a quick come-back by the Seniors tied-up the score. In the second-half of the game the Juniors made two more touchdowns, which really gave the Senior girls a run for their money. The Seniors put up a real fight, but the Juniors still came through with their 18 to 12 victory. One More Time this year was full of memories. One of the best times was the incredible winning sea- son for our football team. Not only did we capture our first winning season, but we became Region 8A South Champio ns and Re- gion Runners-up. We also cannot forget our wonder- ful One Act Play which placed second in state and our debate team which tied for third. Congratulations go out to all students who supported our school in Governor ' s Honors, All- State Chorus, and Literary. This year we have wel- comed a new principal and adjusted to him, just as he has gotten used to us. Amid our hellos to new- comers, we also saying good-bye to some special people: Coach Sheram, Miss Ina, and Ms. Craig are retiring. We have seen murderous Powder-Puff games and sad ends to senior sport ca- reers, Seniors Jamey Wright and Mark Peevy were the first in Dacula history to have their foot- ball jerseys retired. One More Time another chapter of our lives has come and gone, existing only in our cherished memories. _J Year Clo ses- Is A New - Vf-yy s E55 3anononnoao3ijnnnLinnn(Dnci(3(Doano(30cinciaciC3na(JCj(3!Dn(J3(J33n3 3 iciCi Class Of ' 88 Terri, With love we wish for you the very best that life has to offer. As he walked into the room, he found your mom, with a tiny 6lb. 4oz, bundle of joy in her lap, kissing you over and over again. He smiled and said, You don ' t love her now, do you? Well, almost eighteen years have passed since that day, and sometimes mom sits and looks at you longing for those days past. Your heart cries out, you want to shout everythings OK! But you say don ' t cry, I ' ll be by your side, don ' t be enveloped by fear. So you were there for her needs and you heard her plea. She goes on her way. Then a smile enters your day, you think and you say I was really a true friend today. Laura, you are not only a loving, giving daughter, but a true friend. Not just for all you have accomplished, but for the person you are. From the sleepless nights when you were sick, to the nights when you would cry yourself to sleep because people had made a joke about your being fat and yo u felt you were ugly and had no friends; To watch you grow into a beautiful young lady in every way; A young lady who always tries to do her best, not just for herself but for her friends and teammates; A young lady who learned the lesson that champions doesn ' t always get 1st place by the world ' s standard and that the greater person cares for the needs and feelings of other more than their own; A person who has stuck by friends because they were your friends, regardless of what others think. Your love for God is your most precious gift to yourself and your family. You have blessed our lives greatly and we thank God for allowing us to be parents to such a special, warm, caring, loving and wonderful young lady as you.
