34 William Cofer Fine Arts was a combination of courses enabling students to devel- op and express skills and talents of their own. Music department was made up of several choirs, band, or- chestra, and instrumental music les- sons. These areas were exercised through musicals, half-times at games, and assemblies. The depart- ment of arts was made up of speech, drawing, and painting classes. These opportunities made it possible for students to exhibit individual in- terests. Nancy Ferguson Foreign Language studentsbroad- ened their vocabulary along with their outlook on life, and they learned to appreciate our English language more. Learning the struc- ture of a language went hand in hand with learning the basic culture of its people and the art of communica- tion. The most advanced courses of- fered were third year German, fourth year French, and fifth year Spanish.
