30 Diane Anderson Cooperative Occupational Educa- tion was designed for students not planning to attend college. Students received high school credits while getting job experience by attending school half of the day and working supervised jobs the rest of the day. Under the direction of Diane Ander- son and Jack Larabee, students learned what was expected of good employees in various types of oc- cupations.

Anne Bentz Van Horn's extensive English depart- ment offered debate and various lit- erature courses along with Papere back Power, Job English Training, and the regular English classes. The importance of reading was strongly emphasized. Our teachers consid- ered good control of the English lan- guage a skill, and they worked stead- ily to help the students broaden their appreciation of the language.
