Dear Fellow Falcons, I wish I could give each of you a formula that would insure you the happiness and success that would last a life time. Unfortunately, i can not. However, will tell you this: the challenges and pressures that you are certain to face, can be dealt with. Remember, students technology has made life in this country a hundred-yard dash. You must prepare your life as though it were a race - you must train, train, train. Your training here at Van Horn is only a small beginning, but it could amount to so much. I am hopeful that your experiences here will in some small way be valuable in helping you reach your potential as a citizen, leader, schola , and above all, a responsible member of society. Take advantage of all your opportunities for a new and brighter tomorrow. Train today to win the race tomorrow that will last ALL OF YOUR LIFE.

Dear Students, It is with a certain feeling of gratification that I write this note. This marks the end of two successful years at Van Horn, of which you have been an integral part, one way or another. Through good moments and bad moments I have tried to relate personal experiences and experiences of others to you in an effort that you might gain insight and be aware of many facets of life. Many of you seniors observed what others and I had to say and now graduation is here. Hopefully, what you gained here will be especially helpful in the formulation of your life's occupation and your positive contribution toward making this a better society in which to live. To the remainder of you underclassmen, you have something to look forward to. Happy landing.
