THE SUPERINTENDENT SPEAKS. . . How? ln Indian language the word uhowl' may be a greeting, but as used above it is meant to raise a question. How can we house the high school pupils in the future? During the time the members of the present graduating class have been in school we have seen the construction of Sill School, Richardson School, two 4- room units at Crawford School, Elizabeth Price School, Harvey Bolich School, two additions at Sill School, and much renovation in our older schools. We have witnessed the gradual elimina- tion of the eighth and ninth grades from the high school building. ln a few years our present high school build- ing will be too small to house just the senior high grades. Our plans are to construct an addition to the present plant to care for these future space needs. Such things as more industrial arts shop space, better laboratory facilities, better facilities for the fine arts, and more classrooms for the so called academic areas are in the program. A modern kitchen with a combination study hall- dining room will relieve our overcrowded library- study hall situation and eliminate the need of using the rear of academic classrooms for study hall pur- poses. A gymnasium large enough to seat 2,000 people will mean that we no longer will have to trek to Sill School for home basketball games and will also mean that we will have a place large enough to hold a single assembly instead of the three-session assembly programs necessitated by our present small auditorium. More adequate out- door physical education and intramural activities will be provided when the present athletic field is moved to the Bolich site. No, these plans may not mean anything to you but they mean much to the pupils who follow you. You have lived under these conditions so your understanding of the need and your help in getting others to understand will be most helpful. Ugh, ugh- Which translated means Continued success along your chosen path. .J M480-162,
