Pinky,', as he was known to all his friends, had just achieved a thing he had wanted a long time, his appointment to West Point, when he was called to a better world. He had studied many summers in Braden, Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, in his preparation for this appointment and had given up many summer en- joyments. As treasurer of his class he performed his duties well. To his classmates he will always be remembered as he was, a happy, laughing, likeable fellow. 26
