Text from Pages 1 - 136 of the 1983 volume:

The only way to predict the future is to have power to shape the future. SENIOR PAGE BACC ALA URE ATE AND GRADUATION: TIME-3.00 DATE: MAY 29, 1983 PLACE: HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM COLORS: LAVENBAR AND SIL OTTO: OUR A A UAL The Student Council is the governing body presid- ing over the Cut Bank High School. Members are elected to office at the start of each school year by the students. The membership of Student Council is comprised of the following: student body officers, all class officers, first period class reps, Annual and Live Wire editors. The Student Council has two main purposes and responsibilities to the school. First, it serves as a means of communication between the students and the administration. Its other purpose is to function as the governing body of the school. All other clubs and organizations act under and through the Student Council. The Cut Bank High School Student Council has accomplished much more this year than it has in the years preceding. Most of what has been done has been fund raising projects for Council activi- ties. Among these projects are the purchasing of a pop machine and buying a “Badge-a-mint” ma- chine to bring in money during sports events. 1st Row-Mr Roseleip. Adv . C. Askleson. SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS AND REPRESENTATIVES FRESHMEN CLASS OFFICERS AND REPRESENTATIVES BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ STATE Girls’ State was held May 31 through June 5, 1982, at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. It was a week of fun, fellowship, and learning. It is designed to give experience and citizenship in life. Just as in real life, we acted out many governmental procedures. We held city and state elections, and later participated in our own mock sessions of the House of Representa- tives and the Senate. Girls’ State offered us not only an opportunity to gain a better understanding of how our government works, but also to meet many life- long friends. Boys’ State was held June 5 through 12, 1982, on the Western Montana College campus in Dillon, Mon- tana. It was a learning experience in which we partici- pated in the working of city, county, and state poli- tics through elections, rallies, speeches, and cam- paigns. Using the same techniques, the judicial and executive branches were explained by Boys' State members. Classes and sessions furnished our knowl- edge of all three. We learned of political procedures, met many people, and made long-lasting friendships. SENIOR SUPERLATIVES Doyle Donald Anderson Paul Joseph Anton Russell Frank Baker Mark A.
