The Varsity and Junior Varsity played well in their travels to Havre, Conrad, Lewis- town, Ronan, and to the State Meet in Mis- soula. Some of the outstanding individual efforts at the Northern Divisional Tennis tournament were the following: Girls- Joanne Swenson- 3rd girls singles Roberta Harvie- 4th girls singles Barb Morgan Laurie Ellis- 4th doubles Boys- Brett Boutin- 4th boys singles Mike Wollan Wade Berkram- 2nd doubles Joanne Swenson scored Cut Bank’s only point in Missoula at the State Meet. 53 (L. to R.) By class the team consisted of one senior, five juniors, five sophomores, and five freshmen. The most valuable team member was Joe Baumgartner, a junior. Most improved was Andy McKay, a junior. Athletes who qualified for the state meet were Cindy Askelson, Peg Smith, Kris Wood, Wendy Berkram, Bonnie Henderson, Kaye Ranck, Kami Bjoin, and Robin Skierka. Peg Smith was the Northern Division long jump champi- on, and Kris Wood ran a school record 300 hurdles race to qualify for the state finals. They were conference co-champions and had a 14-6 over all record. Coach Peccia gave much credit for the team’s success to Laurie Smith, the team’s only sen- ior. Laurie was voted all-conference First team; an honor also given the Wolves’ center Teresa Schneider. Laurie was also named to the All- state team. “Cut Bank was a young team this year, but our kids came to play and win, and that made the difference,” said Coach Peccia. Girls basketball has grown to be an impressive sport in the past three years. Thanks to the tremendous support given it by the student body, the interest has tripled. The team has compiled a record of 54 wins and 17 losses in three years. Super job. Girls! CROSS COUNTRY Four state medalists led the Wolves at the 1981 State Cross-Country Championship held in Great Falls. The four top runners for Cut Hank were Senior Kris Wood, 6th place; Sophomore Duffer Powell, 6th place; Junior Kaye Ranch, 11th place; arid Sophomore Sam Price, 12th place. Both Wolf teams were fifth in the state meet in 1981. Mr. Maier. advisor. Louder milk, D. Sherrard. N. Wollan. The choir and band concerts were Nov. 5th. Dec. 21st, March 17th, and May 19th. The District Festival was held on April 2-3 in Shelby. State Festival was in Missoula in May. Rlaina Tuma and Carolyn Swenson were chosen for All State Choir while 16 Choristers were selected for District Honor Choir. BAND 86 The CBHS hand of fifty-five members provide entertainment at concerts, sports events, and local parades. Their special activities include traveling to Calgary and Lethbridge on the bi-annual tour. District Music Festival in Shelby, and next fall All-State in Missoula. The jazz band, sax quintet, and many other solos and ensembles are busy working toward District Music Festival in Shelby, along with the nine members who are in the District Honor Band. Several members are also planning to try out for All-State which is to be held next fall in Missoula. The band raised money with its annual magazine drive, a cheese sale, and winter concessions.
