Dedication VOLUNTARIES III In an age of fops and toys, Wanting wisdom, void of right, Who shall nerve heroic boys To hazard all in Freedom's fight - Break sharply off their jolly games, Forsake their comrades gay And quit proud homes and youthful dames For famine, toil, and fray? Yet on the nimble air benign Speed nimbler messages, That waft the breath of grace divine To hearts in sloth and ease. So nigh is grandeur to our dust, So near is God to man, When duty whispers low, Thou must, The youth replies, I can. -Ralph Waldo Emerson- ToV Administration Hm bl I I Brand SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS: Mr. Dale Omsberg; Mr. Jack Werner; Mr. Edgar Mitch; Mr. Robert Yunck, Chairman of the Board; Mr. Dean Perry. In Memory of GLENN GETTER Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mightly and dreadful, for thou art not so: For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death; not yet canst thou kill me. From Rest and Sleep, which but thy picture be, Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow; And soonest our best men with thee do go-Rest of their bones and souls' delivery! Thou'rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell; And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke. Why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die! -John Donne- 28 Senior Directory JERRY ANDERSON- 'C' Club 2,3,4; Basketball 1,2,3,4; Football 1,2,3,4; Track 1,2; Freshman treas. ; Junior v. pres.; Student Government 1,2,3,4; French Club 1. Despite a lack of robes and music for about four weeks, the choir practiced nearly ten weeks for their Christmas concert held on December 22nd. The choir also rehearsed for a spring concert with the band which was held the first week of April, performances at District Music Festival in Shelby later on that month, and a final one at graduation on May 24. Other activities of the choir were a special performance at an open house at the high school in the fall and projects to earn money for nearly eighty new robes. 105 The choir in their rehearsal of Cantante Domino . Students and teachers were fortunate in having the use of trailers to replace classrooms which were destroyed. 114 C Club, an organization of varsity lettermen, has been actively revising its policies this year.
