Class History In September 1950 a bunch of little first graders waited with anxiety to start their first day of school. Grade school was an exciting new world. We made many new and lasting friends. We really started to get into the swing of things in the upper grades. There were dancing, singing, basketball, football, multiplication and hopscotch at recess. Naturally there was lots of homework; it wasn’t all play. After all, we would soon graduate into JUNIOR HIGH. At last we reached Junior High. That was a time for us to “catch our breath” before we made the transition from “high and mighty” eighth graders to “lowly” frosh. HIGH SCHOOL: The magic words that came true in September 1958. How can one phrase the tensions and general excitement? After we elected Ronnie L., Butch E., Judy J., and Janet R. our class officers we became more confident of ourselves. We found many activities to keep us busy. There were band, choir, twirling, cheerleading, F.H.A., G.T.A., G.A.A., Pep Club, football, basketball, track, C Club, Student Council, Spanish and Latin Clubs, and The National Honor Society. They all conspired to shorten time for study. Our Sophomore year we knew where our classes were, and became more aware of our responsibilities. We elected Butch E., Ramona A., Janet R., and Joan B. our class officers. Our Junior year brought forth our first school play—“Little Women”, and our Junior Prom, “Wonderland By Night”. The class officers were Pete J., Don W., Jane B., and Judy J., they were capable and efficient. Judy J. was elected the first girl president of the Student Body for the coming year. Linda W., Judy W., and Jane B. were elected cheerleaders. SENIORS: It didn’t seem possible that that wonderful year had finally arrived. We elected Don W., Tom B., Chari W., and Peggy P. to lead us our final year. Bud B. was elected editor of the annual. Penny P. and Butch E. were the Senior candidates for Homecoming. Football team was Division champions. The Senior play was “Blithe Spirit” and the theme of our very successful Senior Ball was “Holiday In Orbit”. Suzie Connolly became Montana’s Junior Miss. Basketball team won Northern Division Class B Championship. The crucial moment of graduation arrived. Those serious people in white and purple robes progressing toward the speaker’s rostrum to receive their diplomas were a far cry from the rampaging horde that first invaded Cut Bank schools. Those twelve years hold many fine memories to be treasured by the Class of “62”. 25 Class Will I, Bill Yunck, will my car to my brother so he won’t have to walk. T Jh Memoriam Dennis Gordon The untimely death of Denny Gordon in an airplane crash was a great shock to the Cut Bank community. Denny received all of his high school education at Cut Bank, graduating in 1942. He was very active in all music and dramatic organizations. Mr. Haburchak' relates that he was one of the best trumpet soloists in the history of the school. Leading parts were assigned him in operettas and plays. Most of all he is remembered for his dependability and genuine character. He liked people and enjoyed living. He was a student who could always be depended upon to represent the school as a gentleman. During recent years, he returned to Cut Bank frequenty, always contacting his friends with a cheery hello. His last visit was to attend a twenty year reunion of the class of 1942 during the past summer. 89 Senior Diary SEPTEMBER 5. Hooray: School opens today 6.
