Wayne Parker DEDICATION to Mr. Wayne Parker Custer High School ond the community lost a splendid teacher in the untimely passing of Mr. Wayne Parker. Having prepared for a career in the teaching of social sciences while attending Lawrence College, he came to Milwaukee to fol- low that career. After several years of service, he came to Custer where his interest in both students and community welfare were soon recognized. Mr. Parker was a teacher who did not limit his activities to one field in education. His interest in dramatics led him to the professional theatre and his experiences there soon became a part of his school life. For many years, he prepared and presented the annual class plays at Custer. Many parents of present Custer students participated in school plays produced by him when they were his students. While at Custer, Mr. Parker furthered his ed- ucation by frequent attendance at the Wisconsin State Teachers College in Milwaukee. He concen- traded on social science. Always highly conscious of society in general, he kept well informed on conditions abroad as well as at home, in the com- munity as well as in the school. His interest was at all times through the school and into the commun- ity. His sincerity was a result of the conviction that one should practice his own philosophy. Many will remember him through his guidance as organ- izer and sponsor of the cadets. For many years, he maintained this unit for service to the school and each morning he and members of the cadet force would be found posted throughout the school cor- ridors to greet us on our arrival. Students have always been proud to have been included in that group under his guidance. To think that he is gone from us would be to avoid a truth for the many kindnesses, the sin- cerity, the cheerfulness and the pleasantries which he brought to all those who knew him shall for- ever remain in their hearts. We revere his memory at Custer.
