SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Twelve years ago, the Senior Class of '48, or most of it, walked through the doors of various school buildings for the first time, and optimistically demanded an education. Of the 30 or 35 first- graders who started here in 1936, only three--Bertha Schoonmaker, Shirley Randol, and Bill Webb have completed their entire twelve years of school in the Custer City school. The rest of the present Senior class has joined this trio, while in the grades, or in high school. We started our high school career with an enrollxnent of Z4 eager freshmen, brimming with that naive self-assurance that only freshmen possess. We had many parties during our freshmen year and owe many of our swell times to our sponsor, Miss Geraldine Ebert. We entered our Sophomore year with an enrollment of 16. Our sponsor this year was Mrs. Lois Dill. We were engaged in many activities including an all-school carnival. When we came to school as juniors, with an enrollment of 13, we met many new faces and missed several old ones. We also met a complete new high school faculty, with the exception of Miss Ebert, commerce teacher. Our junior year was a period of steady activity. Eleven of us went out for basketball: we had a play, Ma Simpkins of Simpkinsvillon: and the grand finale of the year was the junior- Senior trip to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico and Juarez, Mexico, accompanied by our sponsor, A. B. Allen. Our Senior year, which began with an enrollment of ll, has been a busy one. At the end of the first semester we lost Z members of our class, Peggy Ann Bourller and Charles Lash, who were married December 26. At the beginning of the second semester jo Anne May returned after a semester's absence. Surely we shall always be grateful to our parents for providing us with the opportunity to receive a high school education, and to our teachers for the patience and consideration they have shown throughout the years we were with them. Our faith in our homes and our school is the basis of the confidence with which we face the future.
