Senior Class History When we enrolled as Freshmen there were twenty-two of us. President, Clarence Berry, Vice-President, James Pattersong Secretary, John Cowan: Treasurer, Dick Tomsickg Reporter, Louise Chockleyg Student Council Representatives, James Hobby and Dale Ingersoll: Lisle Morgan, Walter Erps, Fred Blei, George, Gutierrez, Emil Roy, Frank Baker, Sue Hardin, Cecile Knuth, Sonja Thorson, Donna Hanssen, Mary Lee Jennings, Mary Littrell, Deloros Kidder, Catherine Blei, and Shirley Stewart. Our Sponsor was Mrs. Russell Neef. In January we lost George and Mary Lee. Then in March, Sonja moved to Canon. - During this year we presented one assembly and had two parties. Our Sophomore year started off with seventeen, having lost Sue and Cecile during the summer. Our sponsor was Mr. Harold Stacy and our officers were: President, James: Vice-President, Delorosg Secretary, Donna, Treasurer, Louiseg Reporter, Mary, and Student Council Representatives, Dale and Dick. Shirley moved to Durango soon after school started, but later Evelyn Lane from Canon City joined us, and in January, Betty Nelson from Saguache joined us. We presented a P.T.A. Christmas Program, and the Sophomore girls served the ban- quet at the Junior-Senior Prom. In'April we had a party down at the De'Weese Res- ervoir, followed by a Scavenger Hunt. To close the school year we went swimming in Canon City and had a picnic at Rudd Park. Once again we started with seventeen at the beginning of our Junior year. We had lost Evelyn and Dale, but had gained Shirley. Our sponsor was Mr. Harold Stacy and our officers were: President, Clarence: Vice-President, Bettyg Secretary, Dickg Treasurer, Louise: Student Council, Louise and James. During the year we gained Melvin Cross, Dorcas Orcutt, and Beverly Houle. We also lost Dorcas and Beverly. Our first big event of the year was our Junior Play, A-Feudin' Over Yonder , which we presented in December. Then in April we received our class, rings and gave the Junior-Senior Prom, the theme of which was South Pacific . At the close of the year we went swimming in Salida, followed by a steak fry. A few evenings later, Mr. Stacy gave a farewell party for the class. There must be something symbolic about the number seventeen in our class, for again we started our Senior year with seventeen, having lost Shirley. Our sponsor is Mr. Curtis Wise, and our officers are: President, Donnag Vice-President, Betty, Secretary, Louiseg Treasurer, Deloros, and Student Council, Mary and Clarence. We initiated the Freshmen, who proved to be very good sports. To close the two day initiation we gave a Sock Hop, followed by refreshments. At the time of this writing we are concluding our annual, and will give our Senior play in the near future. Then, of course, we all are eagerly awaiting our graduation activities and are looking forward to our Senior trip with much anticipation.
