This, we think, completely describes the atti- tude of Mr. Ray Adams, rancher and president of the School Board. Therefore, it is to Mr.- .Adamsk and these ideals that we wish to dedicate our annual of this school year 1954-55. President, Clarence Berry, Vice-President, James Pattersong Secretary, John Cowan: Treasurer, Dick Tomsickg Reporter, Louise Chockleyg Student Council Representatives, James Hobby and Dale Ingersoll: Lisle Morgan, Walter Erps, Fred Blei, George, Gutierrez, Emil Roy, Frank Baker, Sue Hardin, Cecile Knuth, Sonja Thorson, Donna Hanssen, Mary Lee Jennings, Mary Littrell, Deloros Kidder, Catherine Blei, and Shirley Stewart. Our Sponsor was Mrs. Russell Neef. In January we lost George and Mary Lee. Then in March, Sonja moved to Canon. - During this year we presented one assembly and had two parties. Our Sophomore year started off with seventeen, having lost Sue and Cecile during the summer. Our sponsor was Mr. Harold Stacy and our officers were: President, James: Vice-President, Delorosg Secretary, Donna, Treasurer, Louiseg Reporter, Mary, and Student Council Representatives, Dale and Dick. Shirley moved to Durango soon after school started, but later Evelyn Lane from Canon City joined us, and in January, Betty Nelson from Saguache joined us. We presented a P.T.A. Christmas Program, and the Sophomore girls served the ban- quet at the Junior-Senior Prom. In'April we had a party down at the De'Weese Res- ervoir, followed by a Scavenger Hunt. To close the school year we went swimming in Canon City and had a picnic at Rudd Park. Once again we started with seventeen at the beginning of our Junior year. We had lost Evelyn and Dale, but had gained Shirley. Our sponsor was Mr. Harold Stacy and our officers were: President, Clarence: Vice-President, Bettyg Secretary, Dickg Treasurer, Louise: Student Council, Louise and James. During the year we gained Melvin Cross, Dorcas Orcutt, and Beverly Houle. We also lost Dorcas and Beverly. Our first big event of the year was our Junior Play, A-Feudin' Over Yonder , which we presented in December. Then in April we received our class, rings and gave the Junior-Senior Prom, the theme of which was South Pacific . At the close of the year we went swimming in Salida, followed by a steak fry. A few evenings later, Mr. Stacy gave a farewell party for the class. There must be something symbolic about the number seventeen in our class, for again we started our Senior year with seventeen, having lost Shirley. Our sponsor is Mr. Curtis Wise, and our officers are: President, Donnag Vice-President, Betty, Secretary, Louiseg Treasurer, Deloros, and Student Council, Mary and Clarence. We initiated the Freshmen, who proved to be very good sports. To close the two day initiation we gave a Sock Hop, followed by refreshments. At the time of this writing we are concluding our annual, and will give our Senior play in the near future. Then, of course, we all are eagerly awaiting our graduation activities and are looking forward to our Senior trip with much anticipation. Senior Class Will We, the Senior Class of Custer County High School, in the city of Westcliffe, and the state of Colorado, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, not acting under fraud, or under the influence of any person whatsoever, do make and declare this to be our last Will and Testament in the following manner: Betty Nelson wills her inclination for getting into things she shouldn't, to Maureen Meadors. There's really nothing to it, Maureen, and it makes life real interesting. Have fun! Mary Littrell wills her red hair to Pat Erps. They say two redheads can't meet, Pat, so you can have mine. Louise Chockley wills her ability to get letters from boys in the Navy, to Jeanine Patterson. Now you won't have to wait at the Post Office every night, Jeanine. Donna Hanssen wills her height to Bill Pospahala. Now you will have a better chance to see the world, Bill. Deloros Kidder wills her ability to daydream to John Stewart. Let's see more smart cracks, John. Catherine Blei wills her coquettishways to Edna Berry. Be sure and have a wea- pon of self-defense handy, Edna. 'James Hobby wills his ability to throw straight to Otto Schlemeyer. Let's see you make lots of baskets' now, Otto. Frank Baker wills his boots and hat to Coach Peters. Let's see you get that good old western spirit, Pete. Clarence Berry wills his ability to play basketball to Larry Chavez. Now those long shots will come easier, Larry. Fred Blei wills his ability to go in the office to Tommy Lewis. Mr. McCurley isn't too bad, Tom. Emil Roy wills his DeSoto to Linuel Crowder. It's guaranteed to get you to school on time, Linuel. Melvin Cross wills his meanness to Ralph Squires. lt's more fun to keep the school a going, Ralph. Lisle Morgan wills his big feet to Joan Piquette. You can cover more ground in one step now, Joanie. Dickie Tomsick wills his ability to act to Betty Knuth. Plays are more fun that way, Betty. - John Cowan wills his false teeth to Anita Feldman. Now you won't have to worry about getting them knocked out, Anita. C Jim Patterson wills his night life to Rita Squires. Let's see ya around more, Rita. Walter Erps wills his ability to throw erasers to Larry Potter. 'Soon you will be pitching for the Dodgers, Larry. We, the Senior Class, will all lost articles, scratched furniture, and spitwads to the students of the years to come. -if I 'S' 1 g-..,.m :gf s tv, Q GN 4.-K f President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer ANITA FELDMAN TOM CRESS JEANINE PATTERSON BILL LANCASTER JUNIOR BETTY KNUTH MARVIN MILLER JOAN PIQUETTE KENNETH KUSTER REGINA YQUNGS JAMES GREEN ROBERT KOCH THEODORE .OELRICH LORENE KELLING ROBERT BARNHILL MAR JORIE DIECKMAN JOHN STEWART RI TA SQ UIRES President Vice-President Secretary! The business people of this county were very co-operative in the way of making possible the success ,K of our football games. Their work was extremely appreciated and . we hope that the teams of the future will get the same support ,Q that we received. g , Although this was their first year in this sport, the boys proved ' outstanding.
