Captain William C. Miller was born in Los Angeles, California on December I, l94O and was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in l958: Graduating in l962, he was assigned to the destroyer DUPONT QDD-940 as Communica- tions Officer. Subsequent shipboard tours of duty were served in the guided missile cruiser GRIDLEY CCG-2D as Missile Officer, and Commanding Officer of the frigate McCLOY CFP-lO38j. Captain Miller's assignments ashore have CUSHING DEP RTI G EP I9 9 - OCT l98l included duty on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, as a project officer in the Office of Naval Research, on the faculty of the U.S. Naval Academy, and most recently, 'as Executive assistant to the Superintendent, Ll.S. Naval Academy. Captain Miller is also an alumnus of Stanford University where he earned his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical Engineering. His decora- tions include the Navy Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit. A

Rogers lll was born in Waco, Texas and commissioned in December, l965 through Officer Candidate School, His first assignment was onboard USS INDEPENDENCE CCV-625 where he served as Main Propulsion Division Officer and Assistant Combat lnformaf tion Center Officer. Subsequent assignments included the USS GEORGE K. MACKENZIE CDD-8365 as Main Propulsion Assistant and Combat Information Center Officer, Commis- sioning Operations Officer of the USS VREELAND QFF-lO68Dg and Commanding Officer of the USS EXPLOIT CMSO-4405. . Upon detachment from EXPLOIT, Commander Rogers attended the Armed Forces Staff College ia Norfolk, Virginia, followed by duty in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Systems Analysis Division of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Commander Rogers served as Commissioning Executive Officer of the USS DAVID R. RAY CDD-970, after which he served as Gas Turbine Type Desk Officer on the COMNAVSURFPAC staff. Commander Rogers is a graduate of Baylor University and earned a Masters degree in Economics and History from Trinity University.
